It currently has a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/swing-state-supreme-court-justice-wont-seek-reelection-opens-door-for-conservative-majority\/\" title=\"Key Swing State Supreme Court Justice Opts Out of Reelection, Potentially Shifts Balance towards Conservatism\">4-3 liberal majority<\/a>, but Justice Ann Walsh Bradley announced her retirement in April <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/swing-state-supreme-court-justice-wont-seek-reelection-opens-door-for-conservative-majority\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">putting control<\/a> of the court up for grabs next year. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Like many Democrats running for office this year, Crawford appears set to make abortion a key issue of her campaign. The Wisconsin Supreme Court election is in April 2025. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI am running for Supreme Court justice to protect the basic rights and freedoms of Wisconsinites under our constitution. Those rights are threatened by an all-out effort to politicize the court to drive a right-wing agenda \u2013 I believe Wisconsin deserves better,\u201d she said in her campaign announcement. \u201cFor the first time in years, we have a majority on the court focused on getting the facts right, following the law, and protecting our constitutional rights. We can\u2019t risk having that progress reversed.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Crawford has extensive ties to Planned Parenthood and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wispolitics.com\/2018\/planned-parenthood-advocates-of-wisconsin-endorses-susan-crawford-for-dane-county-circuit-court-judge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">was working<\/a> as the lawyer for the abortion giant\u2019s Wisconsin branch when she ran for Dane County circuit judge in 2018. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In 2015, Crawford <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pinesbach.com\/blog\/2015\/03\/aclu-reproductive-rights-project\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">worked<\/a> with attorneys from Planned Parenthood to convince a judge to permanently block a pro-life law that imposed restrictions on doctors who performed abortions. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Abortion has been a major issue in Wisconsin after an 1849 law protecting unborn life went into effect when <em>Roe v. Wade <\/em>was overturned. Just months later, the court <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/state-supreme-court-orders-new-maps-for-wisconsin-months-after-liberals-win-majority-on-court\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">struck down<\/a> the state\u2019s legislative maps, ruling that they were heavily gerrymandered and needed to be redrawn.
