However, during <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/roger-stone-announces-he-will-sue-those-who-arrested-him-and-put-him-in-front-of-a-kangaroo-court\/\" title=\"Roger Stone Announces He Will Sue Those Who Arrested Him and Put Him In Front of a Kangaroo Court\">cross-examination<\/a>, prosecutors referenced text\u200c messages that seemed to\u2062 contradict her statements.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>WILMINGTON, Delaware<\/strong> <strong>\u2014<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/hunter-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Hunter Biden<\/a>\u2018s defense team rested its case Monday morning after calling three witnesses to the stand in Biden\u2019s gun <a href=\"https:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"trial\">trial<\/a> \u2014 and after the first son decided against testifying in his own defense.<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s lead defense attorney Abbe Lowell had brought in his client\u2019s eldest daughter to testify on how her father appeared sober in the summer of 2018, a couple of months before he purchased a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/guns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"gun\">gun<\/a> for which he is now facing charges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe seemed like the clearest that I had seen him since my uncle died,\u201d Naomi Biden testified on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>She also said she did not see any drug paraphernalia in his truck in late October when he visited her in New York, though prosecutors on cross-examination showed text messages that signaled he was not entirely available to his daughter when he went to New York.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just want to hang out with you,\u201d Naomi Biden wrote in a text.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m sorry, I have been so unreachable, it\u2019s not fair to you,\u201d her father responded.<\/p>\n<p>An ex-girlfriend previously testified that she had witnessed Hunter Biden using crack cocaine as late as September 2018, one month before the Oct. 12, 2018, gun purchase.<\/p>\n<figure><figcaption>James Biden departs from federal court on Monday, June 10, 2024, in Wilmington, Delaware. Both worked at the Wilmington gun shop where Hunter Biden bought the firearm in question and discussed the background check process.<\/p>\n<p>Special counsel David Weiss has alleged Hunter Biden lied on a federal form about his drug use to purchase a revolver and that he unlawfully kept the gun for 11 days while being addicted to or a user of crack cocaine.<\/p>\n<p>Hunter Biden was accompanied by several family members in the courtroom on Monday, including first lady Jill Biden, first daughter Ashley Biden, his uncle and aunt James and Sara Biden, his aunt Valerie Biden Owens, and his wife, Melissa Cohen Biden.
