He has attacked his opponent for previously donating to Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), a critic of Israel, and compared him to former New York Rep. George Santos for changing his party affiliation from Democratic to Republican. Santos has switched from Republican to independent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNovakhov has supported people who are anti-Israel \u2014 it crosses the line,\u201d Saban said.<\/p>\n<p>Novakhov, who is also Jewish, has countered by suggesting Saban didn\u2019t have enough valid signatures for the ballot move. \u201cSome signatures are not kosher,\u201d Novakhov said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSaban is using the situation in Israel to get more votes,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s just a trick.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The move is novel among politicians looking to garner support from voters this fall, many using Israel\u2019s war against Hamas as a key issue in their races.
