A subpoena has\u2063 already been issued to someone with ties \u200cto \u200dthe mayor, prohibiting them from speaking publicly\u200c about the investigation. The investigation is being conducted by the Southern District of\u200b New\u2063 York.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>A federal grand jury has reportedly started reviewing evidence that has been collected in a criminal investigation into allegations of corruption involving New York City Democrat Mayor Eric Adams.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation, which is being run out of the Southern District of New York, centers around allegations that Adams\u2019 election campaign received illegal campaign contributions from the Turkish government, possibly in-exchange for actions taken by Adams, who has close ties to the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the past three weeks at least one person connected to the mayor has received a federal subpoena from the Manhattan U.S. attorney\u2019s office with specific instructions prohibiting the recipient from speaking publicly about its contents,\u201d The New York Daily News <a href=\"https:\/\/au.news.yahoo.com\/federal-grand-jury-reviewing-evidence-004800107.html\">reported<\/a>, according to a source.<\/p>\n<p>Federal authorities raided homes of Adams campaign fundraisers, a member of City Hall, a member of his transition team, and a former Turkish Airlines executive last fall, the report said.<\/p>\n<p>Adams was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/fbi-seizes-eric-adams-phones-amid-federal-corruption-investigation\">confronted<\/a> by the FBI last fall and was forced to give up his cell phones and iPad, which were returned to him several days later.<\/p>\n<p>The criminal probe has reportedly zeroed in on \u201cfree upgrades the mayor received on Turkish Airlines flights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The New York Times reported separately last fall that after he won the Democratic mayoral primary in the summer of 2021, Adams allegedly contacted then-Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro and pushed him to allow the Turkish government to at least have permission to occupy on a temporary basis a new high-rise consulate in Manhattan that they built, which fire officials would not sign off on because of safety issues.<\/p>\n<p>Adams\u2019 alleged intervention \u201cpaved the way\u201d for Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan to preside over the grand opening of their 35-story tower in September 2021, the report said. I\u2019m Eric Adams \u2014 the mayor! Ex-cop!\u201d he said.\u00a0\u201cNo idea. No idea. No idea.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey don\u2019t tell me stuff.
