They\u200d argue that\u2064 allowing children to undergo medical procedures\u200c related to\u200c their \u2062gender identity is harmful, and that\u200c the medical \u2063community\u2062 should focus on the\u200d biological reality \u2062of sex rather\u200b than subjective feelings. This declaration has sparked \u200da larger debate about the role of medicine in transgender treatment and the need for legislation to protect children\u200c from potentially\u2063 dangerous procedures. \u2064The article stresses the importance of this issue and the need for united efforts to address it.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/commentary\/\">  Commentary <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/ccavanaugh\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/ccavanaugh\/%20\"><span>Connor Cavanaugh<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   June 9, 2024 at 2:36pm <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>When it comes to transgender medical treatments for children, the battle lines are getting clearer.<\/p>\n<p>For <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/conservative-dad-fought-crt-lgbt-agenda-dies-age-53\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">conservatives<\/a>, the No. 1 issue is the lifelong health and safety of the current generation of confused youths \u2014 too young to make decisions that they will carry to the grave.<\/p>\n<p>Whether it is children being exposed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/60-minutes-runs-explosive-segment-featuring-young-transgender-individuals-who-decided-to-reverse-course\/\" title=\"60 Minutes Runs Explosive Segment Featuring Young Transgender Individuals Who Decided To Reverse Course\">life-altering medical procedures<\/a> because of ill-advised or ideologically driven adults,\u00a0 or grown men masquerading as women to enter private spaces, the transgender movement is putting kids in harm\u2019s way.<\/p>\n<p>To its disgrace, the mainstream American medical community, including the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics, have largely supported the agenda of the transgender movement \u2014 but that could be changing.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-admin-battling-court-force-pediatricians-perform-trans-surgeries-kids\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">American College of Pediatricians<\/a> \u2014 a <a href=\"https:\/\/acpeds.org\/about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">conservative group<\/a> of medical professionals founded in 2002 \u2014 and other organizations under the umbrella name \u201cDoctors Defending Children\u201d took a public stand against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trans-christian-school-shooters-journal-leaks-sick-blasphemy-jesus-unhinged-gender-rantings-uncovered\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">transgender insanity<\/a> being forced onto children, firmly calling for all sex-changing procedures on children to come to an immediate halt.<\/p>\n<p>It has the support of groups such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cathmed.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Catholic Medical Association<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/cmda.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Christian Medical &#038; Dental Associations<\/a>, and the <a href=\"https:\/\/coalitionforjewishvalues.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Coalition of Jewish Values<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And it took direct aim at the most activist element of the medical community to make its case.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/doctorsprotectingchildren.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">declaration<\/a> \u2014 which attacks a group called the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, among others \u2014 straightens out tons of different claims that leftist organizations make, and states the position of the college of pediatricians in terms that most Americans not only understand, but agree with completely.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSex is a dimorphic, innate trait defined in relation to an organism\u2019s biological role in reproduction\u201d the declaration states as its first principle. \u201cIn humans, primary sex determination occurs at fertilization and is directed by a complement of sex determining genes on the X and Y chromosomes. This genetic signature is present in every nucleated somatic cell in the body and is not altered by drugs or surgical interventions.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Should transgender procedures on children be outlawed?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>That\u2019s not only high-school level biology, it\u2019s a philosophical statement as well \u2014 that objective reality exists outside the realm of human feelings.<\/p>\n<p>The statement also over how the feeling of not being at home in one\u2019s body during puberty is normal and is almost always resolved after individuals experience \u201cthe normal developmental process of puberty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the statement emphasizes, in detail, that there are \u201cserious <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-were-on-a-mission-advocacy-groups-behind-push-to-save-womens-sports-campaign-against-trans-surgeries-for-minors\/\" title=\"EXCLUSIVE: \u2018We\u2019re On A Mission\u2019: Advocacy Groups Behind Push To Save Women\u2019s Sports Campaign Against Trans Surgeries For Minors\">long-term risks<\/a> associated with the use of social transition, puberty blockers, masculinizing or feminizing hormones, and surgeries, not the least of which is potential sterility.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It makes the points that puberty blockers \u201cpermanently disrupt physical, cognitive, emotional and social development\u201d and that genital surgeries \u201caffect future fertility and reproduction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cResponsible informed consent is not possible in light of extremely limited long-term follow-up studies of interventions, and the immature, often impulsive, nature of the adolescent brain,\u201d the declaration states in its second point.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe adolescent brain\u2019s prefrontal cortex is immature and is limited in its ability to strategize, problem solve and make emotionally laden decisions that have life-long consequences.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Again, these are statements any honest adult will agree with. Laws ranging from drivers license age limits to those covering statutory rape acknowledge the lack of maturity in a young person\u2019s brain.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConsent is not possible\u201d when it comes to engaging in sex, but the transgender movement wants the country to think consent <em>is<\/em> possible when it comes to changing sexes.<\/p>\n<p>The declaration also criticizes doctors who are part of the WPATH umbrella group who have gone ahead with medical transitions for minors even in the face of known negative effects such procedures can have on children.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespite all the above evidence that gender-affirming treatments are not only unhelpful, but are harmful, and despite the knowledge that the adolescent brain is immature, professional medical organizations in the United States continue to promote these interventions,\u201d it states.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFurther, they state that legislation to protect children from harmful interventions is dangerous since it interferes with necessary medical care for children and adolescents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It finishes by boldly declaring where these medical professionals stand so that there\u2019s no confusion about the negative effects these procedures can have on children.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTherefore, given the recent research and the revelations of the harmful approach advocated by WPATH and its followers in the United States, we, the undersigned, call upon the medical professional organizations of the United States, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the \u00a0Endocrine Society, the Pediatric Endocrine Society, American Medical Association, the American Psychological Association, and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to follow the science and their European professional colleagues and immediately stop the promotion of social affirmation, puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and surgeries for children and adolescents who experience distress over their biological sex.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is only the beginning of a fight for the future of medicine when it comes to transgender issues, of course, since he pro-trans agenda is firmly dug in with large medical groups.<\/p>\n<p>The AMA, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/news\/american-college-pediatricians-issues-fiery-141456375.html?fr=sycsrp_catchall\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox News noted<\/a>, states as fact<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ama-assn.org\/system\/files\/2019-03\/transgender-coverage-talking-points.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> on its website<\/a> that \u201cImproving access to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/god-loves-me-10-year-old-trans-child-quotes-bible-to-tell-tx-legislators-why-they-shouldnt-ban-trans-surgeries-procedures-for-minors\/\" title=\"\u2018God Loves Me\u2019: 10-Year-Old Trans Child Quotes Bible To Tell TX Legislators Why They Shouldn\u2019t Ban Trans Surgeries, Procedures For Minors\">gender-affirming care<\/a> is an important means of improving<br \/> health outcomes for the transgender population.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReceipt of gender-affirming care,\u201d according to the AMA, \u201chas been linked to\u201d all kind of good events, like fewer suicide attempts, decreased anxiety, deceased substance abuse, reduced use of self-prescribed hormones and \u201cimproved HIV medication adherence.\u201d (To hear the AMA tell it, transgendering kids solves everything but climate change.)<\/p>\n<p>But the College of Pediatricians statement doesn\u2019t back down, and could well be a basis for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/san-francisco-tech-mogul-goes-trump-hosts-fundraiser-republican-home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Republicans<\/a> to pass legislation to protect children.<\/p>\n<p>Too many organizations in the United States have fought against efforts to get any law that prohibits transgender care for minors despite the clear negatives it has.<\/p>\n<p>However, with such a multitude of noteworthy organizations on the side of preventing transgender care for children, no other group could hope to outweigh them.<\/p>\n<p>If lawmakers heed the advice given, a future where children are no longer misguided into becoming science experiments for the left and those who attempt to do so are punished could come.<\/p>\n<p>The ball is now in politicians\u2019 courts to respond aptly to the declaration and prevent any more children from being turned into science projects for leftists.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>\u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d Those 12 words have been stuck in my head since I first read them. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Former Lt.
