The article ends with a plea from the editor for support in their fight\u200c against leftist media \u200dand Big \u2063Tech&#8217;s\u2063 control.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/news\/\">  News <\/a>  <\/p>\n<h2>Trump Will See Officer Using &#8216;Highly Unusual&#8217; Method During Next Step After Conviction &#8211; &#8216;Very Disruptive&#8217;<\/h2>\n<p> <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/russdavis\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/russdavis\/%20\"><span>Jack Davis<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   June 9, 2024 at 12:41pm <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>Former President Donald Trump will be interviewed Monday by a New York City probation officer as part of the standard post-conviction process.<\/p>\n<p>But as in all things Trump, there is a twist.<\/p>\n<p>Trump, who was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/san-francisco-tech-mogul-goes-trump-hosts-fundraiser-republican-home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">found guilty<\/a> of 34 counts of so-called \u201cfalsifying business records,\u201d will have a virtual interview instead of the standard face-to-face meeting, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/donald-trump\/trump-probation-interview-monday-hush-money-conviction-rcna156219\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NBC<\/a>, which cited sources it did not name.<\/p>\n<p>Attorney Todd Blanche will join Trump as the first president\u2019s Mar-a-Lago estate for the call.<\/p>\n<p>The interview is part of the standard process by which probation officers develop a pre-sentencing report that is then given to the judge overseeing the case.<\/p>\n<p>Martin Horn, former commissioner of the New York City Department of Corrections and Probation, said it was, \u201cit is highly unusual for a pre-sentence investigation interview to be done over Zoom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, he said, if Trump were to appear in person, the visit would wreak havoc with the office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut you can argue that Trump\u2019s appearance at the probation office on the 10th floor of the Criminal Court Building in Manhattan where his trial took place, with Secret Service and press following him, would be very disruptive to the probation office and unfair to other defendants who might not want to be identified,\u201d Horn said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo in the end, this might be better for the probation officer,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Do you think this \u201chighly unusual\u201d move smells fishy?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The purpose of the pre-sentencing report and the probation interview is to pull together facts about a convicted individual\u2019s social, medical, mental health and criminal history and develop a picture of the person for the judge to review.<\/p>\n<p>Horn said Trump could be asked about associating with people who have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/senate-judiciary-chairman-says-gun-control-is-top-priority\/\" title=\"Senate Judiciary Chairman Says Gun Control Is \u2018Top Priority\u2019\">criminal records<\/a>, which could be an issue if he is given probation.<\/p>\n<p>Trump is facing a sentence of anywhere between probation and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/trump-versus-biden-revisited-75th-anniversary-orwells-1984\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">four years<\/a> in prison.<\/p>\n<p>Duncan Levin, a defense attorney, said the interview may not change anything, but it remains part of the process.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is unlikely to move the needle because the judge knows so much about his background,\u201d Levin said, per NBC.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Juan Merchan will sentence Trump on July 11.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Will Donald Trump avoid prison?
