Despite Hunter \u200cBiden&#8217;s laptop being confirmed as authentic by media outlets and the Department of Justice, Clapper stands by his \u200cdecision to sign\u2064 the letter. During Hunter&#8217;s ongoing \u2064gun trial, images from the laptop and iCloud \u200baccount were shared showing him nude and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-biden-gun-trial-confirms-laptop-was-real-all-along\/\" title=\"Confirmation of the Reality of Hunter Biden's Laptop Emerges in Gun Trial\">holding crack pipes<\/a>. When asked if he regrets signing the \u200bletter, \u2063Clapper replied &#8220;No&#8221; and refused to remove his name from \u2064it. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-fbis-string-of-embarrassing-failures-with-left-wing-sources\/\" title=\"The FBI\u2019s String of Embarrassing Failures With Left-Wing Sources\">laptop contained evidence<\/a> that Hunter introduced his father, then-Vice President Joe Biden, to a Ukrainian businessman who was being\u200c investigated by the Ukrainian government. This meeting took place less than a year before Joe Biden pressured the government to fire \u200bthe prosecutor investigating the businessman&#8217;s company.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Former Director of National Intelligence <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/james-clapper\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">James Clapper<\/a> had a short reply when he was asked by Fox News if he regrets signing the intelligence officials\u2019 letter in 2020 that labeled the Hunter Biden laptop story as Russian disinformation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Clapper, along with 50 other former senior intelligence officials, signed the letter in October 2020 \u2014 just weeks before the presidential election between Donald Trump and Joe Biden \u2014 saying <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/10\/14\/email-reveals-how-hunter-biden-introduced-ukrainian-biz-man-to-dad\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the New York Post story<\/a> that exposed emails from Hunter Biden\u2019s \u201claptop from hell\u201d had \u201call the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Since that letter, Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop has been confirmed as authentic by multiple media outlets and the Department of Justice. The laptop was also confirmed as real during Hunter\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/hunter-biden-gun-trial-confirms-laptop-was-real-all-along\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ongoing gun trial<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  earlier this week when the prosecution shared images from the laptop and Hunter\u2019s iCloud account that showed him nude and holding crack pipes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When Clapper was asked if he regretted adding his name to the intelligence officials\u2019 letter, he simply replied, \u201cNo,\u201d Fox News <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/former-obama-official-one-word-answer-asked-retract-attack-hunter-biden-laptop\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">reported<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. He also refused to publicly remove his name from the letter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Hunter\u2019s laptop contained evidence that the first son introduced the commander-in-chief to a Ukrainian businessman less than a year before then-Vice President Joe Biden pressured Ukrainian government officials to fire a prosecutor investigating the businessman\u2019s company. Hunter had been hired to the board of a Ukrainian energy firm a year before Joe Biden\u2019s meeting with the Ukrainian businessman.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Clapper, and dozens of other former intelligence officials, wrote of the Hunter Biden laptop story, \u201cIf we are right, this is Russia trying to influence how Americans vote in this election, and we believe strongly that Americans need to be aware of this.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The letter was covered in a report by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2020\/10\/19\/hunter-biden-story-russian-disinfo-430276\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">POLITICO<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  that was published on October 19, 2020, and Biden referred to the letter in a debate with Trump three days later when Hunter\u2019s laptop and foreign business dealings were brought up.
