The roster, which has not \u2062been\u200d officially announced \u200cyet, features experienced and skilled players such as \u200bA&#8217;ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart, and Diana Taurasi. However, supporters of \u200cClark are voicing their disappointment and questioning\u2063 the motives behind her exclusion. \u200dAmidst the controversy, The Western\u2064 Journal is calling for donations to help continue their fight against Big\u200b Tech and the elites who\u2062 are looking to shut them down.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/sports\/\">  Sports <\/a>    <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/bchai\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/bchai\/%20\"><span>Bryan Chai<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   June 8, 2024 at 1:27pm <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>Is Indiana Fever superstar rookie Caitlin Clark one of the 12 best women\u2019s basketball players in the U.S.A.?<\/p>\n<p>That question is at the heart of a controversy that has erupted after multiple reports outed the 2024 United States women\u2019s national basketball team roster \u2014 and it didn\u2019t include the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-caitlin-clark-shakes-off-cheap-shot-controversy-breaks-wnba-record-sensational-win\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stellar<\/a> Clark.<\/p>\n<p>As both <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/sports\/olympics\/caitlin-clark-left-team-usa-roster-paris-olympics-rcna156172\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NBC News<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/5550057\/2024\/06\/08\/caitlin-clark-paris-olympics-roster-womens-basketball\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Athletic<\/a> have reported, the U.S. women\u2019s Olympic roster will feature the following stars:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Las Vegas Aces center A\u2019ja Wilson<\/li>\n<li>New York Liberty forward Breanna Stewart<\/li>\n<li>New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu<\/li>\n<li>Las Vegas Aces guard Kelsey Plum<\/li>\n<li>Phoenix Mercury center <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/media-goes-crazy-brittney-griners-slam-dunk-basketball-fans-spot-immediate-problem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Brittney Griner<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Seattle Storm guard Jewell Loyd<\/li>\n<li>Phoenix Mercury guard Diana Taurasi<\/li>\n<li>Las Vegas Aces guard Chelsea Gray<\/li>\n<li>Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier<\/li>\n<li>Connecticut Sun forward Alyssa Thomas<\/li>\n<li>Las Vegas Aces guard Jackie Young<\/li>\n<li>Phoenix Mercury guard Kahleah Copper<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>As The Athletic noted, that roster is widely expected to win the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.<\/p>\n<p>That winning tradition dates back some time, as the U.S. women have won gold at every Olympics since 1996.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">THE 2024 USA WOMEN\u2019S OLYMPIC BASKETBALL TEAM IS STACKED \ud83e\udd29<\/p>\n<p>The roster is according to multiple reports. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/6YQZCgcbRP\">pic.twitter.com\/6YQZCgcbRP<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 ESPN (@espn) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/espn\/status\/1799471117477748817?\">June 8, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>A few observations of the women\u2019s roster:<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Should Caitlin Clark be chosen for Team USA?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>The Las Vegas Aces on-court dominance is reflected in this roster: <\/strong>The Aces have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hail-state-mississippi-state-baseball-wins-cws-for-schools-first-national-championship\/\" title=\"Hail State: Mississippi State Baseball Wins CWS For School\u2019s First National Championship\">won back-<\/a>to-back WNBA championships (Wilson and Gray both won Finals MVP awards), and are very much in the mix of things for a three-peat this year.<\/p>\n<p>It should come as little surprise that Wilson (a two-time league MVP), Gray, Plum and Young all made the roster.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The roster favors experience: <\/strong>There are no rookies on this roster. If anything, it skews a tad older, with veteran players up and down the roster.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from Wilson, Stewart is also a two-time league MVP, adding even more legitimacy to the roster.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where does Clark fit in? <\/strong>This is the million-dollar question that has fans up in arms.<\/p>\n<p>Given the positional needs of a basketball team, Clark had ample opportunity to crack the roster with the U.S. women opting to go with six guards on a 12-person roster.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s hard to justify putting Clark (whose Fever sport a paltry 3-9 record, good for second-worst in the league) over any of the Aces or Liberty (9-2, second best in the WNBA) guards. That puts Ionescu, Plum, Gray and Young on the roster. That\u2019s already four out of six guard spots gobbled up.<\/p>\n<p>That just leaves two of the older guards on the roster: The 30-year-old Loyd and 41-year-old Taurasi.<\/p>\n<p>Looking at the numbers, Clark certainly has a case to be made against both.<\/p>\n<p>Loyd is a gunner, and her three-point shooting prowess will be critical when teams collapse the paint against the U.S. women\u2019s frontcourt. Her career three-point shooting percentage is a rock-solid 35.8 percent.<\/p>\n<p>And yet, Clark is shooting the exact same three<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/it-took-lebron-james-just-one-game-to-call-out-his-teammates-lakers-roster\/\" title=\"It Took Lebron James Just One Game to Call Out His Teammates &#038; Lakers\u2019 Roster\">-point percentage<\/a> as Loyd this year, and on far higher volume. Clark and Loyd are both shooting 32.7 percent from behind the arc, but Loyd is taking fewer than five three\u2019s per game, while Clark is shooting nearly nine.<\/p>\n<p>In a head-to-head comparison with Taurasi, the case to snub Clark is a little murkier. By virtually every metric, Clark has outplayed the WNBA veteran this year.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-conversation=\"none\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"qme\"><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/2PHRvOXQmC\">pic.twitter.com\/2PHRvOXQmC<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ethical Hoops\ud83c\udfc6 (only takes Ws) (@EthicalHoopz) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EthicalHoopz\/status\/1799482067052638495?\">June 8, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Now, yes, basketball does involve things that don\u2019t show in a stat sheet, like defense, and one can certainly argue that Clark\u2019s thin frame makes her a defensive liability.<\/p>\n<p>(It also can\u2019t be understated that Taurasi has been a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/wnba-star-said-reality-coming-caitlin-clark-record-shattered-draft-night\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">vocal critic<\/a> of Clark\u2019s, and team chemistry may have played a role in roster assembly.)<\/p>\n<p>Whatever the pros and cons of Clark being on the squad may be, one undeniable con is that Clark won\u2019t be bringing her high-wattage <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/millions-watched-caitlin-clark-angel-reese-beating-average-viewers-nba-playoff-games-last-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">star power<\/a> to the team.<\/p>\n<p>It does need to be noted that these rosters have not been officially announced yet.<\/p>\n<p>Swaths of Clark fans are speaking out \u2014 just look at the comments to that ESPN post \u2014 and letting it be known that they are not thrilled with the decision to leave her off the U.S. women\u2019s team.<\/p>\n<p>Will it be enough to change the minds of the decision-makers?<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>An Important Message from Our Staff:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>We who work here at The Western Journal have fought for years against Big Tech and the elites who want to shut us down and then shut America down. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Make no mistake \u2014 nothing will be the same after November 2024.
