In a text message, McDonald wrote that Nevada\u2019s GOP would rally behind Trump as Republicans\u2019 presumptive nominee, saying the GOP board had met to make the exception to its bylaws.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure><figcaption>President Donald Trump dances onstage after his campaign rally, Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020, in Jacksonville, Florida. (AP Photo\/Stan Badz)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>After Trump\u2019s unprecedented hush money conviction on May 31, McDonald said, \u201cThe NVGOP reiterates our full support and endorsement for Donald J Trump to replace Joe Biden as the 47th President of the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The waiver has yet to be ratified with a two-thirds majority vote of members and delegates present at Nevada\u2019s GOP convention or through the Nevada Republican Central Committee.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>McDonald is a Trump loyalist, rallying behind the GOP\u2019s presumptive presidential nominee during his Las Vegas rally in January.\u00a0\u201cWhen I talked to the president, I said, \u2018I guarantee you Nevada will show up,\u201d McDonald said as he introduced Trump. \u201cWe will deliver you 100% of delegates for the state of Nevada.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Critics <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/2837260\/caucus-confusion-nevada-2024-primaries-gop-caucuses\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>slammed<\/a> McDonald\u2019s decision to only award delegates through Nevada\u2019s Republican caucus, a move that eliminated virtually all competition from the race and resulted in a sweeping Trump win.\u00a0McDonald claimed Nevada\u2019s dirth of voter ID laws motivated the caucus. \u201cIf we had voter ID, there wouldn\u2019t be a need for a caucus,\u201d the chairman said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Top pro-Trump super PAC MAGA Inc. has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3029121\/gop-super-pac-pumps-100-million-into-effort-for-trump-victory-in-swing-states\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>confirmed<\/a> it will target Nevada and other swing states with over $100 million in targeted advertising this election cycle.<\/p>\n<p>The latest<a href=\"https:\/\/static.foxnews.com\/foxnews.com\/content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Fox_June-1-4-2024_NEVADA_Topline_June-6-Release.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title> polling<\/a> shows Trump leading President Joe Biden by 5% in Nevada.\u00a0 In 2020, Biden only won Nevada by a razor-thin margin, taking the Silver State 50.1% to Trump\u2019s 47.7%.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nevada&#8217;s Republican Party is modifying its bylaws to back Donald Trump, a convicted felon, in his reelection campaign.
