A presidential candidate needs 270 electoral votes to secure victory.<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, Biden won Virginia by 10 points or nearly half a million votes. In 2016, Hillary Clinton won the state by less, five points or about 200,000 votes.<\/p>\n<p>Clinton\u2019s popularity in Virginia may have been boosted by picking Virginia Senator Tim Kaine as her running mate.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1716990157394000&#038;usg=AOvVaw33qQydjIo8bet419amChif\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>However, Biden has slowly lost ground in Virginia this election cycle, according to polls from the last few months.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roanoke.edu\/news\/rc_poll_politics_may_2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">poll<\/a> from late May, Biden and former President Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, were shown tied 42-42.<\/p>\n<p>In another estimate, <span class=\"css-1jxf684 r-bcqeeo r-1ttztb7 r-qvutc0 r-poiln3\">Biden leads Donald Trump by just 0.1%, according to an average of 17 polls.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Other states marked as toss-ups by the poll rater are Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, Nevada, \u00a0Minnesota, North Carolina, and Georgia.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolling.com\/polls\/president\/general\/2024\/trump-vs-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">is up<\/a> over Biden by less than a point, according to the RealClearPolitics average of polls.<\/p>\n<p>As of late last month, the former president was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/trump-leads-biden-in-five-of-seven-swing-states-poll-finds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">leading<\/a> in five of six swing states, although Biden has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/joe-biden-donald-trump-polls-battleground-states-1908358\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shown<\/a> with a small lead in several of those states since then, according to some polls.<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, Trump lost a slew of these battleground states: Pennsylvania, Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, and Wisconsin.<\/p>\n<p>With the election just five months away, both Trump and Biden have ramped up their campaign strategies. Democrats have leaned into the abortion issue and Trump\u2019s recent felony conviction, while Republicans have doubled down on their attacks on the economy under Biden, immigration, and the court cases against Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Trump is battling several court cases, one of which kept him stuck in a Manhattan courtroom all day for weeks until late last month, when he was convicted on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/judge-presiding-over-trumps-arraignment-bars-video-cameras-from-courtroom\/\" title=\"Judge Presiding Over Trump\u2019s Arraignment Bars Video Cameras From Courtroom\">34 felony counts<\/a> of falsifying business records related to hush-money payments to porn actress Stormy Daniels.
