The\u2064 Bureau of Labor \u200dStatistics reported \u2063that while foreign-born \u2064workers \u2063gained over 600,000 jobs, \u200dnative-born workers \u200clost almost 300,000 jobs. This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/as-dems-rage-against-catholic-church-biden-admin-pays-it-huge-bucks-to-care-for-migrants\/\" title=\"As Dems Rage Against Catholic Church, Biden Admin Pays It Huge Bucks To Care For Migrants\">includes illegal immigrants<\/a>, who the BLS admits may be included \u2063in their data.\u2064 However, the \u2064left \u2064has argued that illegal immigrants\u200d have helped save the economy. The economist points \u200bout that while they may \u200dcontribute to\u200b production, they\u200d also impose\u200b significant costs on \u200dthe economy. The economy \u2014 and consumer spending \u2014 had roared back from the pandemic recession. Companies were struggling to hire enough workers to keep up with customer orders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But as Antoni explained to The Federalist, the drain on the economy surely offsets their production value. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen they make these claims about how illegal immigration has helped the United States economy they\u2019re always talking about things like \u2018Here are all the jobs they do.\u2019 They never talk about all the costs that illegal immigration imposes,\u201d Antoni argued. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-9960105971e15ce2277c32b6549e1499 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-9960105971e15ce2277c32b6549e1499\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThese people are using emergency rooms and they\u2019re not paying their hospital bills. These people have their kids in public schools which they\u2019re not paying taxes to fund. Illegal immigrants are imposing serious and significant costs,\u201d he continued. \u201cHousing is another huge one. Where are these 12+ million illegal aliens staying? They are staying in apartments, they are staying in houses which means they are increasing demand and driving up rent prices. So you can say they\u2019re adding production to the economy but they\u2019re also adding significant costs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The jobs <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/pdf\/empsit.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">report<\/a> also showed that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/inflation-and-the-two-sides-of-the-american-economy\/\" title=\"Understanding the Impact of Inflation on the US Economy\">full-time jobs decreased<\/a> by 625,000 when compared to April, while part-time employed workers grew by 286,000. At least 16,000 additional workers were reported to be holding at least two jobs when compared to April.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\"> <span class=\"ae0z4yIDTTlka9W3pxPG2MVHlxtKu04CmQcBkVFmqUiSLhjAiDWrbLEsOrJ75un72jnRdyH\"><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Something doesn&#8217;t add up here:<\/p>\n<p>All of the headlines say that the US economy added 272,000 jobs in May.<\/p>\n<p>However, when you dig deeper into the data you can see that full-time employment actually FELL by -625,000.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, part-time employment rose by 286,000 along with the\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/77403A2Eyu\">pic.twitter.com\/77403A2Eyu<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 The Kobeissi Letter (@KobeissiLetter) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KobeissiLetter\/status\/1799063206721413170?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 7, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/span> <\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p>The Biden administration has touted a \u201cstrong labor market,\u201d but job gains were largely concentrated in health care, government, and leisure and hospitality.<\/p>\n<p>While the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/jobless-claims-fall-a-day-after-fed-hikes-rates-again\/\" title=\"Jobless claims fall a day after Fed hikes rates again\">unemployment rate increased slightly<\/a> to 4.0%, Antoni explained in a post on X that there are \u201cmillions of people missing from the labor market\u201d who are not included in the unemployment rate. If those people are included, unemployment suddenly jumps anywhere between 6.5% and 8.0% \u201cdepending on methodology.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The BLS estimates that there are 5.7 million people who are \u201cnot in the labor force\u201d but \u201ccurrently want a job.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese individuals were not counted as unemployed because they were not actively looking for work during the 4 weeks preceding the survey or were unavailable to take a job,\u201d according to BLS. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cBefore the pandemic, this number was actually trending down,\u201d Antoni explained to The Federalist. \u201cIt peaked in 2018 and because the labor market was so strong in 2018\/2019, that number was trending down.
