Republicans had invited\u200c Bragg and \u2064prosecutor\u200d Matthew Colangelo to appear\u200d before the Select Subcommittee on the \u2062Weaponization\u2063 of the Federal \u2063Government, one day after White House press secretary Jen Psaki stated \u2063that President \u2063Biden would not intervene in the Trump case. Bragg&#8217;s counsel wrote that the office is committed\u2062 to voluntary cooperation and evaluating the propriety of allowing an Assistant District Attorney to testify publicly about an\u2063 active \u2063prosecution to\u2064 which he is assigned.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Manhattan District Attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/alvin-bragg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Alvin Bragg<\/a> is rejecting House Republicans\u2019 proposed date for testimony on the New York hush money trial against former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Donald Trump<\/a> even as he expressed a willingness to find another day to appear before Congress.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter to Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) obtained by the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em>, Leslie Dubeck, counsel for Bragg, wrote that the office is \u201ccommitted to voluntary cooperation\u201d but cites scheduling conflicts with the requested June 13 date.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat cooperation includes making the District Attorney available to provide testimony on behalf of the Office at an agreed-upon date, and evaluating the propriety of allowing an Assistant District Attorney to testify publicly about an active prosecution to which he is assigned,\u201d Dubeck wrote. \u201cHowever, the proposed date that the Subcommittee selected without consulting the Office presents various scheduling conflicts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Republicans <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3024142\/house-republicans-bragg-colangelo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>invited both Bragg and prosecutor Matthew Colangelo<\/a> to appear before the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government.\u00a0The request came one day after Trump was convicted on 34 counts of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/rep-jordan-subpoenas-former-manhattan-prosecutor-who-pushed-for-trump-indictment\/\" title=\"Rep. Jordan Subpoenas Former Manhattan Prosecutor Who Pushed for Trump Indictment\">falsifying business records related<\/a> to a 2016 hush money scheme involving porn star Stormy Daniels.<\/p>\n<p>Colangelo is a former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/peter-schweizers-red-handed-exposes-communist-chinas-silicon-valley-sympathizers\/\" title=\"Peter Schweizer's 'Red-Handed' Exposes Communist China's Silicon Valley Sympathizers\">top-ranking official<\/a> in the Biden administration\u2019s Department of Justice who left the DOJ to join the team prosecuting Trump. He previously worked for New York Attorney General Letitia James, who also has conducted investigations into the former president and the Trump Organization.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis hearing will examine actions by state and local prosecutors to engage politically motivated prosecutions of federal officials, in particular the recent political prosecution of President Donald Trump by the Manhattan District Attorney\u2019s Office,\u201d Jordan had written in letters to Bragg and Colangelo last week.<\/p>\n<p>Dubeck said that since the committee has not \u201cmade clear the scope\u201d of the proposed testimony and trial proceedings for Trump\u2019s case are scheduled to continue through July 11, the proposed date will not work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe trial court and reviewing appellate courts have issued numerous orders for the purpose of protecting the fair administration of justice in <em>People v. How Jordan responds to Bragg\u2019s letter remains to be seen.
