This \u2062badge symbolizes the ongoing progress for marginalized communities and serves as a reminder of\u200c the importance of diversity and inclusion within law enforcement.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_79\">\n<p>Florida\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/police\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Tampa Police<\/a> Department unveiled a new rainbow badge for its officers to wear during <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/lgbt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Pride month<\/a> this June.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe badge incorporates the rainbow flag, as well as the five-color chevron that represents people of color and the transgender community. This particular badge is voluntary for TPD officers.<\/p>\n<p>The rainbow flag reflected in the badge was designed in 2018 by graphic designer Daniel Quasar. It\u2019s referred to as the \u201cprogress pride\u201d flag.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This comes after Tampa hasn\u2019t reported a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tampa.gov\/police\/hate-crimes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"hate crime\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/man-in-nyc-arrested-for-a-string-of-attacks-on-women\/\" title=\"Man in NYC arrested for a string of attacks on women\">hate crime<\/a><\/a> against any member of the LGBT community since 2021. Since the department began recording hate crimes in 2016, it has only reported five instances of anti-LGBT crime. <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, overall crime has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/a-testosterone-booster-that-works-for-both-men-and-women\/\" title=\"A Testosterone Booster That Works for Both Men and Women\">remained largely unchanged<\/a> since 2021, with over <a href=\"https:\/\/stories.opengov.com\/tampa\/published\/4p54orlvy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"9,000 crimes\">9,000 crimes<\/a> reported between then and 2023.
