Douglas Golden<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   June 7, 2024 at 6:09am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>It\u2019s been only a week since President Joe Biden\u2019s secretary of state intimated that Ukraine might be given the green light to use U.S.-made weapons to strike inside Russian territory, and the chickens might already coming home to roost.<\/p>\n<p>According to a Wednesday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/news\/nation-world\/world\/americas\/article289044079.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Miami Herald<\/a> report, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/miles-anonymous-taylor-accidentally-exposes-the-fraudulence-of-the-mainstream-media\/\" title=\"Miles 'Anonymous' Taylor Accidentally Exposes the Fraudulence of the Mainstream Media\">senior administration official<\/a> said Moscow was preparing a deployment of combat naval vessels and warplanes for military exercises in the Caribbean in the next few weeks.<\/p>\n<p>The exercises will be the first that Russia has conducted in this hemisphere with both sea and air military assets in over five years. And while the exercises were planned for some time, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/russia-naval-air-exercises-caribbean\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CBS News<\/a>, they\u2019re still seen as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wait-until-you-see-whats-coming-president-trump-fires-warning-shot-on-fraudulent-computer-voting-systems\/\" title=\"\"Wait Until You See What's Coming!\" - President Trump Fires Warning Shot on Fraudulent Computer Voting Systems\">warning shot<\/a> across America\u2019s bow for getting stuck <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/report-nato-meeting-discuss-allowing-ukraine-attack-targets-inside-russia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">deeper in Ukraine<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to the official, the administration expects the Russians to \u201cconduct heightened naval and air activity near the United States,\u201d including port calls in socialist strongholds Cuba and (possibly) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-venezuelan-military-move-country-claims-illegal-concessions-granted-territory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Venezuela<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Both, the Herald noted, are \u201clongstanding Russian allies that have seen occasional visits from Russian naval assets in the past two decades.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRussia has sailed ships into the Western Hemisphere every year from 2013 to 2020, and has sent flights through the region that have violated the airspace of U.S. allies,\u201d the report said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut the anticipated activity would be the first coordinated air and sea exercise of its kind since 2019, during the Trump administration, the official noted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The official said that while the exercises pose \u201cno direct threat to the United States,\u201d it\u2019s a \u201cmessaging tactic\u201d after the administration indicated its willingness to sign off on Kyiv using American-supplied military assets to strike within Russian territory, crossing a red line the Biden administration had not broached.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Here\u2019s a look at the nuclear sub, other Russian warships that will visit Cuba next week <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Nlk9rnxdan\">https:\/\/t.co\/Nlk9rnxdan<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Miami Herald (@MiamiHerald) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MiamiHerald\/status\/1798872525411148000?\">June 7, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Speaking at a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-official-hints-american-support-helping-ukraine-attack-russia-shocking-policy-shift\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">news briefing<\/a> in Moldova on May 29, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Ukraine \u201chas to make its own decisions about the best way to effectively defend itself. We\u2019re going to make sure that it has the equipment it needs to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnother hallmark of our support for Ukraine over these, now, more than two years has been to adapt as conditions have changed and the battlefield has changed, as what Russia does has changed in terms of how it\u2019s pursuing its aggression and escalation,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve adapted and adjusted, too, and I\u2019m confident we\u2019ll continue to do that,\u201d Blinken said.<\/p>\n<p>National Security Council spokesman John Kirby didn\u2019t back off this, either, although he said the administration did \u201cnot encourage nor do we enable attacks using U.S. weapons on Russian soil.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur support to Ukraine has evolved appropriately as the battlefield conditions have evolved. And that\u2019s not going to change. But right now, there\u2019s also no change to our policy,\u201d Kirby said.<\/p>\n<p>According to CBS News, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/obama-era-white-house-stenographer-claims-bidens-2011-trip-russia-reveals-putin-humiliated-vp-sport\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">White House<\/a> \u201ccleared Ukraine to use the weapons on the Russian side of the border near the besieged Ukrainian city of Kharkiv\u201d last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Biden administration narrowly tailored the U.S. permission to the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation and restricted the use of the weapons to targeting Russian artillery sites and other weaponry aimed at them around Kharkiv,\u201d the report said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Ukrainians are still not permitted to use U.S.-provided long-range equipment, such as the ATACMs, to hit Russia beyond that point, in order to avoid the perception of a direct U.S. escalation with Russia,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Will Russia and America go to war?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Granted, American policy shouldn\u2019t be shaped by vague threats from its adversaries in the form of military exercises, and Russia no longer projects the same kind of military power that the former Soviet Union did at its peak.<\/p>\n<p>However, the operations in the Caribbean are a reminder that Russia still is a powerful nation with a powerful military \u2014 and it also has nukes in addition to those naval vessels and military aircraft.<\/p>\n<p>Whether Vladimir Putin would dare to use them is another question, although he\u2019s been willing to rattle a glowing uranium saber on more than a few occasions <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/putin-issues-nuclear-warning-west-draws-red-line-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">during the Ukraine conflict<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>An administration that doesn\u2019t take into account Russia\u2019s reaction to increased U.S. involvement in Ukraine risks getting us far more dug in than most Americans feel comfortable with.<\/p>\n<p>With the disastrous end to one war in Afghanistan and another potential conflict brewing with China over Taiwan, it\u2019s too dangerous to make Ukraine into a modern-day <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/usmc-harrier-pilot-might-first-ace-since-vietnam-houthi-air-assets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vietnam<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>What Americans want is no capitulation but no escalation, either.<\/p>\n<p>Whether Biden can walk that tightrope is anyone\u2019s guess \u2014 but if the message-sending exercises in the Caribbean are any guess, he\u2019s not doing so hot thus far.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>An Important Message from Our Staff:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>In just a few months, the world is going to change forever.
