As a result, interest in the conflict has quickly manifested into yet another theater in America\u2019s greater culture war.<\/p>\n<p>American views on the war in Gaza have become increasingly centered around issues of diversity here in our own country. A large contingent of protesters and Palestinian sympathizers see and even openly acknowledge that they are in fact fighting to dismantle Jewish \u201cprivilege\u201d in America and the system that supports it.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2-long d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-469205147\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1379703300879-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1a0649bd39c575cab454dfce3d79a943 fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1a0649bd39c575cab454dfce3d79a943\"><\/div>\n<p>When a campus protester at an American college dons a veil and holds up a \u201cFree Hamas\u201d sign, their intention is clear. It is to criticize not only the actions of the Israeli government but the larger system of \u201csettler colonialism\u201d and the Jewish community\u2019s role in its supposed perpetuation.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, when a Jewish student rightly calls out a protester for being antisemitic, he becomes, in the eyes of the protester, a representative of a system that is unfairly and structurally pro-Jewish \u2014 and, in turn, pro-white \u2014 at its core.<\/p>\n<p>Black left-wingers use the images of Jews as \u201cwhite\u201d and Palestinians as \u201cdark\u201d to compare America\u2019s exploitation of blacks to Israel\u2019s treatment of Gaza, which they regard as genocidal. Rapper SEB! exploited this comparison in his song FREE PALESTINE! \u2014 released in 2023 and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefp.com\/p\/i-was-stabbed-in-the-eye-at-yale\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">played repeatedly<\/a> on Yale University student commons.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>F-ck Israel, Israel a b-tch\u00a0\/\u00a0B-tch we out here mobbin\u2019 on some Palestine sh-t\u00a0\/\u00a0Free Palestine b-tch, Israel gon\u2019 die b-tch\u00a0\/\u00a0N-gga its they land why you out here tryna rob it\u00a0\/\u00a0Bullsh-t prophets, y\u2019all just want the profit<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cRobbing\u201d land? \u201cWant the profit?\u201d The rapper channels resentment against the notion that Jews in America are primarily devoted to the almighty dollar rather than the social welfare of their country. In this sense, left-wing campus activism follows the European anti-Jewish tradition, which has historically drummed up accusations against Jews for using their wealth in the service of undue influence on governments.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-3db2558a5bbe93397af1a12a251f011e fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-6\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-3db2558a5bbe93397af1a12a251f011e\"><\/div>\n<p>Alarmingly, this anti-Jewish sentiment has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/top-progressives-say-15-minimum-wage-is-too-low-call-for-26-minimum-wage-instead\/\" title=\"Top Progressives Say  Minimum Wage Is Too Low, Call For  Minimum Wage Instead\">grown increasingly popular<\/a> among a diverse spectrum of the American population.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPalestine is Arab,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/columbia-university-anti-israel-protesters-dramatic-moments-week-chaos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">shouted<\/a> protesters in New York City, seeking to deny the Arabness of Israeli Jews and reflecting long-held, open anti-Jewish views of many younger Americans. A 2021 study by the Anti-Defamation League <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edelman.com\/insights\/business-needs-combat-rising-antisemitism\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">revealed<\/a> that at least 40 percent of Americans between the ages of 18 and 30 believe between two and five statements revealing strong beliefs about Jewish power and privilege \u2014 which is the same percentage of Americans over 30 who believe the same. Youth and a supposedly more \u201cprogressive\u201d education are not eliminating anti-Jewish sentiment; they are fanning the flames.<\/p>\n<p>These anti-Jewish sentiments, built upon theories of racial power and privilege, are a direct product of critical race theory. For instance, prior to protests by the Jewish community, California\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.edweek.org\/policy-politics\/ethnic-studies-curriculum-deemed-anti-jewish\/2019\/08\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum<\/a> omitted Jewish Americans as ethnic minorities. Diversity trainers in California <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/School-Woke-Critical-Infiltrated-American\/dp\/1546003657\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">claimed famously<\/a> that only \u201cJews of color\u201d were supported under their diversity framework.<\/p>\n<p>Simmering anti-Jewish resentment also plays out in campus protesters\u2019 reaction against administrative actions used against them, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecrimson.com\/article\/2024\/5\/20\/harvard-student-petition-disciplinary-action\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">they claim are unfairly harsh<\/a> and influenced by Jewish donors. Pro-Palestine publications like the Middle East Monitor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.middleeastmonitor.com\/20240517-pro-israel-jewish-billionaires-caught-secretly-plotting-to-crackdown-student-protests\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">published accounts<\/a> of \u201cPro-Israel Jewish Billionaires\u201d using their campaign and university donations as cudgels to influence the university\u2019s policy on protests. <\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1235bfba9e85348471c603e09fa66d7e fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-10\" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-1235bfba9e85348471c603e09fa66d7e\"><\/div>\n<p>Younger anti-Jewish campus activism has also received support from older Middle Eastern immigrants to the United States. Seventy-three-year-old Palestinian businessman Mustafa Khader <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kuer.org\/race-religion-social-justice\/2024-05-01\/in-their-words-what-the-free-palestine-protests-say-to-two-utahns\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> pro-Palestine protests are \u201ctotally American\u201d because they represent the value of free speech in America to criticize.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI might differ with Hamas on their ideological beliefs,\u201d he also says, distancing himself from the terrorist group. \u201cBut I cannot condemn Hamas for what they\u2019re doing. They\u2019re part of the oppressed population and an oppressed population and occupied population have by law, the right to resist, by all means possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy understanding is that Palestinian hate for Jews is bred in the bone, taught in the schools and fortified by their leaders,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.winnipegfreepress.com\/opinion\/analysis\/2024\/05\/03\/balancing-free-speech-and-hate-speech#:~:text=I%20could%20be%20wrong%2C%20but,and%20fortified%20by%20their%20leaders.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">writes<\/a> Naomi Levine, a Jewish Winnipeg lawyer. It is the same story in America. Anti-Israel protests are buttressed and fortified by the idea that Jews control America, to the detriment of less powerful and oppressed minorities.<\/p>\n<p>Both sides are starting to acknowledge more and more that criticism of Israel is interrelated to criticism of Jews in America.
