Police ruled\u200c the case as\u200d self-defense and continue to investigate. Charges are not expected against the \u2063vehicle owner, Marco Leyva. Jarvis Houston, a Texas man, was fatally \u200cshot in \u2062a carjacking attempt just after his release from jail. The situation escalated into\u200c a physical altercation as the vehicle owner, Marco\u2062 Leyva, protected his family from theft. Police deemed it self-defense and\u200d are\u200b conducting further inquiries, with no anticipated charges against\u200d Leyva.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/news\/\">  News <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/russdavis\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/russdavis\/%20\"><span>Jack Davis<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   June 6, 2024 at 2:32pm <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>A Texas man was shot to death Wednesday night during an attempted carjacking, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>Police said the man, Jarvis Houston had been out of the Angelina County Jail for less than an hour when the incident took place, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ktre.com\/2024\/06\/06\/lufkin-man-shot-dead-carjacking-involving-baby\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KTRE<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The outlet reported that the man who owned the truck admitted he shot Houston but said he did it to prevent the vehicle from being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/suspect-horrifying-carjacking-taken-custody-parents-see-news-reports\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stolen<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Lufkin Police Department said the \u201cfatal overnight shooting\u201d came out of \u201can attempted vehicle theft with the victim\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/people-on-right-would-trade-tax-cuts-for-ability-to-openly-say-n-word-joy-reid-claims\/\" title=\"People On \u2018Right\u2019 Would Trade Tax Cuts For Ability To Openly Say \u2018N\u2019 Word, Joy Reid Claims\">family inside<\/a>,\u201d according to a police post on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/lufkinpolicedepartment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The post said, Marco Leyva, 25, indicated that he had stopped at his business located in Lufkin at about 9 p.m. on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>While the vehicle was stopped, a man not known to Leyva allegedly \u201centered his running truck with his wife and baby daughter inside,\u201d the police post said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespite Leyva\u2019s warnings and offers of an alternative vehicle, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/taco-bell-manager-let-homeless-man-stay-with-him-then-cops-say-it-turned-deadly\/\" title=\"Taco Bell manager shelters homeless man, tragic outcome follows.\">physical altercation ensued<\/a>, resulting in the suspect being shot,\u201d the post said.<\/p>\n<p>Leyva was detained after police arrived.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Do you feel safe when driving in cities?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Houston was taken to a local hospital but later died.<\/p>\n<p>The post said that Leyva\u2019s account of what took place was confirmed by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/chilling-surveillance-video-shows-suspect-minutes-parade-massacre\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">surveillance video<\/a> from his business.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Lufkin man shot dead in carjacking involving baby <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/qnf4yHHX98\">https:\/\/t.co\/qnf4yHHX98<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Gene (@Gene86893975) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Gene86893975\/status\/1798734743992946857?\">June 6, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Police said that no charges are expected to be filed against Leyva, ruling the case to be one of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/man-hail-satan-knife-allegedly-breaks-house-gun-toting-homeowner-gives-reason-pray\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">self-defense<\/a>, but the case is being reviewed by the Angelina County District Attorney\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p>No injuries to Leyva or his family were reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespite initial difficulty in identifying the suspect, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/baltimore-woman-arrested-after-police-find-niece-and-nephews-dead-bodies-in-the-trunk-of-her-car\/\" title=\"Baltimore woman arrested after police find niece and nephew\u2019s dead bodies in the trunk of her car\">officers discovered<\/a> a paper sack at the scene, suggesting a recent jail release. Subsequent contact with the jail confirmed the suspect\u2019s identity as Jarvis Houston, 47, of Lufkin,\u201d the post said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJail officials informed officers that Houston had been released less than an hour prior,\u201d the post said, after Houston was jailed on charges of assault\/family violence causing bodily injury and a misdemeanor warrant.
