Shortly after this\u2062 announcement, a car \u2062association opposed to the toll revealed\u2064 plans to host a fundraiser\u2062 for Hochul&#8217;s reelection campaign. The Greater \u2062New York Automobile Dealers Association\u2062 is\u200c organizing the\u200c event with suggested \u2064donation amounts of $5,000 and $10,000. They \u200bhave been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/report-propublica-excluded-its-major-donors-from-expose-on-billionaires\/\" title=\"Report: ProPublica Excluded Its Major Donors From Expose On Billionaires\">significant donors<\/a> to\u2062 Hochul and\u200b former Governor Andrew\u2064 Cuomo, \u200bcollectively contributing $419,000 since \u20632008. The association \u200draised concerns \u200dabout the impact of the congestion pricing plan on businesses and employees in a previous email to subscribers.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3030207\/hochul-pauses-new-york-citys-congestion-pricing-plan-citing-costs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>announced<\/a> an indefinite pause on her Manhattan congestion pricing plan. Just days after she announced the delay, an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gas-prices-reach-6-year-high-amid-shortages\/\" title=\"Gas Prices Reach 6-Year High Amid Shortages\">automobile association<\/a> against the toll announced they will be <a href=\"https:\/\/mcusercontent.com\/26aaaa2fc0e8e986dde700fb4\/files\/c2e00042-6955-248f-c939-ef00770f1019\/2024_HOCHUL_FUNDRAISER_2D_fillable.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>hosting<\/a> a fundraiser for Hochul.<\/p>\n<p>The Greater <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/senate\/3030749\/new-york-democrats-secret-committee-pick-legislation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>New York<\/a> Automobile Dealers Association is holding a June 11 fundraiser for Hochul\u2019s reelection campaign with $5,000 and $10,000 suggested donation amounts. A <a href=\"https:\/\/us1.campaign-archive.com\/?u=26aaaa2fc0e8e986dde700fb4&#038;id=cb73715503\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>flier<\/a> released before Hochul\u2019s decision called her \u201ca staunch supporter of our industry.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The group donated $18,000 to Hochul\u2019s campaign in July 2023, having been serial donors to her and former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. GNYADA has <a href=\"https:\/\/publicreporting.elections.ny.gov\/ContributionsByRecipient\/ContributionsByRecipient\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>donated<\/a> cumulatively $419,000 to both governors since 2008.<\/p>\n<p>In a February <a href=\"https:\/\/us1.campaign-archive.com\/?u=26aaaa2fc0e8e986dde700fb4&#038;id=efb4d94e72\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>email<\/a> to subscribers, the group noted its opposition to the plan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis lawsuit underscores concerns that the plan could harm businesses and employees within the proposed pricing zone, where nearly all Manhattan GNYADA dealers are located,\u201d the email stated, noting the legal opposition to the plan. \u201cGNYADA submitted comments to the MTA in September opposing the plan spotlighting the consequences for dealers and the thousands of people they employ.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The fundraiser and the group\u2019s previous support for Hochul creates an obvious conflict of interest for the governor that could further dismay groups who opposed her delay of the plan. Many groups applauded the plan\u2019s projected contributions to the Metropolitan Transit Authority, the city\u2019s main transit body. It would\u2019ve also likely cut down on traffic in the city and had an environmental effect.<\/p>\n<figure><figcaption>Protesters demonstrate outside Gov. (AP Photo\/Yuki Iwamura)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The congestion pricing plan would\u2019ve cost passenger cars $15 every time they entered parts of Manhattan during peak hours, and $24 to $36 for trucks and buses. Hochul deemed it too steep a charge for now.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s be real: A $15 charge may not seem like a lot to someone who has the means, but it can break the budget of a hard-working middle-class household,\u201d Hochul said.<\/p>\n<p>Detractors of the plan slammed the cost it would impose on New Yorkers, and Gov.
