He said he believes the whole thing was an accident as the animal was just trying to get the food being offered, which was allowed by the venue. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cPaisley was holding the bag and the giraffe went to go get the bag, not get her, but ended up getting her shirt too and picking her up,\u201d the father told <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kwtx.com\/2024\/06\/03\/my-heart-stopped-fossil-rim-giraffe-accidentally-picks-up-toddler-during-drive-thru-safari\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">KWTX<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. \u201cMy <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-derek-chauvin-trial-coverage-to-ninth-day\/\" title=\"The Derek Chauvin Trial \u2013 Coverage to Ninth Day\">heart stopped<\/a>, my stomach dropped\u2026 it scared me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The giraffe released the toddler quickly and she fell into her mother\u2019s arms uninjured, as multiple outlets reported. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Per Fossil Rim Wildlife Center rules, giraffes are the only animals visitors are allowed to feed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cOnly giraffes can be fed by hand. This is for your safety, as animals besides giraffe[s] can bite,\u201d the website <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/fossilrim.org\/road-rules\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">says<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Toten said Paisley later got a stuffed giraffe from the gift shop because she \u201cdeserved it.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The incident has prompted the safari to change some of their rules. As of June 6, \u201cguests are no longer permitted to ride in the bed of pickup trucks,\u201d the website says. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fossil Rim Wildlife Center issued a <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/GMA\/Living\/giraffe-lifts-toddler-air-safari-drive\/story?id=110873738\">statement<\/a> to ABC News on Wednesday regarding the incident.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe were recently made aware of an incident involving one of our giraffes that occurred this past weekend,\u201d the statement said. \u201cThe incident was first reported to us on Monday June 3rd. The safety of our guests and animals is always of utmost importance to us.
