Constitution-supporting Supreme Court justices such as Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, for example, have been charged in the national press with conflicts of interest due to not theirs but their wives\u2019 free speech and participation in the political process.<\/p>\n<p>The Montana event touted the administration\u2019s allocation of $24 million in Inflation Reduction Act funds to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gsa.gov\/real-estate\/historic-preservation\/explore-historic-buildings\/find-a-building\/all-historic-buildings\/mike-mansfield-federal-building-and-us-courthouse-butte-mt\">Mike Mansfield Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse<\/a> in Butte, Montanna, located in Morris\u2019 district. These funds are allocated for purchasing materials allegedly made with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pathetic-dishonest-virtue-signaling-hypocrites-megyn-kelly-rips-climate-alarmists\/\" title=\"\u2018Pathetic, Dishonest, Virtue-Signaling Hypocrites\u2019: Megyn Kelly Rips Climate Alarmists\">lower greenhouse gas emissions<\/a> and what <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gsa.gov\/about-us\/gsa-regions\/region-8-rocky-mountain\/region-8-newsroom\/rocky-mountain-region-feature-stories-and-news-releases\/press-release-mansfield-federal-building-slated-t-11072023\">GSA calls <\/a>\u201csustainability performance improvements.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy grandmother and [grandfather] raised their seven children in a duplex [up the street]. And here we are, their grandson now comes to work every day in this courthouse down the block as a judge,\u201d Morris said. \u201cShows you what kind of country we can have when we live up to our highest ideals. This is a great joy for me.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Morris\u2019 appearance sparked pushback on X, where Aaron Flint, host of the statewide show Montana Talks, questioned the ethics of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sidney-powell-is-an-american-legal-giant\/\" title=\"Sidney Powell Is an American Legal Giant\">federal judge<\/a> appearing at a \u201cpartisan event.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p><span><\/p>\n<blockquote data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Fancy suit for a liberal federal judge who is against mining to wear in the mining city. In the photo, the judge appears to be speaking behind a podium emblazoned with Biden\u2019s name.<\/p>\n<p>Morris is a member of the State Bar of Montana, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montanabar.org\/Membership-Regulatory\/Ethics-Resources\/JudicialConduct#:~:text=Judges%20should%20participate%20in%20activities,or%20provisions%20of%20this%20Code.\">directs judges<\/a> to \u201cnot engage in political or campaign activity that is inconsistent with the independence, integrity, or impartiality of the judiciary\u201d and to avoid even \u201cthe appearance of impropriety.\u201d Although the GSA is a nominally independent agency within the executive branch, the funding clearly advances the Biden administration\u2019s radical environmental agenda. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe project marks another step toward achieving President Biden\u2019s federal sustainability goals, including a net zero emissions federal building portfolio by 2045 and net zero emissions procurement by 2050, while supporting good American manufacturing jobs,\u201d reads a GSA press release on the matter.<\/p>\n<p>The scrutiny comes amidst what many view as <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/05\/democrats-work-to-strip-all-opponents-of-representation-in-court\/\">targeted ethics complaints<\/a> against <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/05\/effective-republican-attorneys-general-get-slapped-with-politicized-ethics-charges\/\">conservative jurists<\/a> who <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/02\/13\/democrats-unconstitutional-crusade-to-disbar-texas-ag-ken-paxton-shows-how-far-theyll-go-to-win-elections\/\">oppose Democrats<\/a> in policy and litigation. Among those is Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen, who faced a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailymontanan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/strauch-knudsen-complaint.pdf\">41-count ethics complaint<\/a> last year for his defense of Republican state legislators in litigation against the Montana Supreme Court. <a href=\"https:\/\/dojmt.gov\/highly-irregular-odc-complaint-fails-to-allege-violation-must-be-dismissed\/\">Knudsen\u2019s office says<\/a> the complaint is a \u201cpolitical stunt\u201d intended to discourage Knudsen and others from \u201craising <a href=\"https:\/\/dailymontanan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/PR-23-0496-Other-Response_Objection.pdf\">well-supported concerns<\/a> about judicial misconduct in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Morris\u2019 office and the State Bar of Montana did not respond to requests for comment.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Monroe Harless is a summer intern at The Federalist.
