Cleveland defended his sales practices, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/target-to-launch-grocery-delivery-service-to-rival-walmart-and-amazon\/\" title=\"Target plans to launch grocery delivery service to compete with Walmart and Amazon\">emphasizing quality<\/a> \u200dover price. Prosecutors alleged Biden lied on a federal form\u200b to purchase a firearm and illegally kept \u2064it. Cleveland witnessed Biden completing the form at a normal pace and assisted him in choosing ammunition \u2063for self-defense. Biden made the purchase with cash in 2018.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>WILMINGTON, Delaware \u2014<\/strong> A former <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/firearms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>gun<\/a> store clerk defended his sales practices as he was grilled by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/hunter-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hunter Biden<\/a>\u2018s attorney during the first son\u2019s trial on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Gordon Cleveland, who sold Biden a revolver in 2018, testified that he was more interested in selling customers \u201cquality\u201d items than expensive ones.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors called Cleveland, a trash truck driver and onetime employee of Starquest\u00a0Shooters &#038; Survival Supply, to the stand to testify about the interaction he had with Biden at the time of the purchase.<\/p>\n<p>Special counsel David Weiss has alleged Biden lied about his drug use on a federal form to purchase a Colt Cobra and that he illegally retained the firearm for 11 days.<\/p>\n<p>Cleveland testified that he watched Biden fill out the form, which prosecutors displayed as an exhibit to the courtroom. The form featured Biden\u2019s signature and showed the first son had checked off \u201cno\u201d in response to a question about whether he was an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gun-rights-advocates-want-feds-to-look-at-prosecuting-hunter-biden\/\" title=\"Gun-Rights Advocates Want Feds to Look at Prosecuting Hunter Biden\">unlawful drug user<\/a> or drug addict.<\/p>\n<p>He said Biden filled it out at a normal pace \u201clike you would do with any form.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cleveland recalled how Biden had driven up to the store in a black Cadillac, walked into the small shop, and told the clerk he was looking for a revolver.<\/p>\n<p>The former store clerk said he proceeded to show Biden the Colt Cobra line, which he said was a nicer brand that does \u201ca lot of high-end things.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Derek Hines, a government prosecutor, then presented to the courtroom the gun Biden had purchased. It had a dark wooden handle and featured Colt Cobra insignia. Hines walked the gun, fastened to the inside of a cardboard box, over to Cleveland to verify it and then displayed it for jurors.<\/p>\n<figure><figcaption>A revolver Hunter Biden purchased on Oct. 12, 2018. (U.S. District Court of Delaware)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A receipt for nearly $900 entered into evidence showed Biden purchased with cash the revolver, ammunition, a BB gun, a speedloader, and two other items unrelated to guns from Cleveland\u2019s shop on Oct. 12, 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Cleveland said he explained the differences in full metal jacket and hollow point ammunition to Biden. He said the first son then chose the latter, which was better for self-defense.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut to be clear, you\u2019re the one who explained the various kinds of handguns?\u201d Biden\u2019s attorney Abbe Lowell asked on cross-examination.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, I did,\u201d Cleveland replied.<\/p>\n<p>Lowell then asked if Cleveland was \u201cfamiliar with the phrase \u2018whale hunter,&#8217;\u201d prompting a hearty laugh from the witness. \u201cWhale hunter\u201d is a nickname for hungry salespeople who seek out high-revenue customers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wouldn\u2019t sell you something that is terrible and waste your money,\u201d Cleveland said.<\/p>\n<p>He also noted that his sales did not affect his pay. <\/p>\n<p>Upon Lowell suggesting Cleveland urged Biden to purchase the ammunition, Cleveland said he did because he always does when a customer wants a gun.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018Cause what are you gonna do, throw it at somebody?\u201d he asked rhetorically.<\/p>\n<p>Lowell asked Cleveland twice about his grand jury testimony, during which the witness had said he tried to \u201csway\u201d customers to \u201chigher-end firearms, a bit more expensive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cleveland replied that he did that because he did not want to sell customers low-quality products.<\/p>\n<p>Cleveland will return to the stand Thursday morning for more cross-examination, and Lowell has signaled he plans to explore deeply certain rules surrounding the gun form with the witness.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors plan to call several more witnesses to the stand, but they said they could rest their case as early as the end of the day on Thursday.
