Represented\u200d by legal organizations, they aim to challenge the policy, emphasizing the need \u200cfor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/newsom-recall-petition-close-to-success\/\" title=\"Newsom Recall Petition Close To Success\">parental rights<\/a>\u200c in protecting children \u200cfrom potentially harmful school policies.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A group of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/wisconsin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wisconsin<\/a> parents are asking the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/supreme-court\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Supreme Court<\/a> to intervene in their effort to overturn a district policy that allows parents to be kept in the dark if their child decides to identify as transgender. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The parents want the Supreme Court to recognize that they have standing to challenge an Eau Claire Area School District policy that does not require parents to be notified if their child decides to change names\/pronouns or start using opposite sex facilities. Represented by the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty (WILL) and America First Legal asked the Supreme Court on Wednesday in a <a href=\"https:\/\/will-law.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/Cert.-Petition-FINAL-PDFA.pdf\">petition<\/a> for writ of certiorari to allow it to challenge the Eau Claire policy. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThousands of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/calif-gov-newsom-announces-2b-plan-to-reopen-schools-by-spring\/\" title=\"Calif. Gov. Newsom announces B plan to reopen schools by spring\">school districts<\/a> across our country have these policies,\u201d WILL Deputy Attorney Luke Berg said in a statement obtained by The Daily Wire. \u201cIf parents cannot challenge them until after their children are harmed, they have no way to protect their kids other than pulling them from public school.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A lower federal court previously struck down an effort by the parents to challenge the policy, saying that they lacked standing because none of their children had yet been harmed by the policy. The parents say that their First Amendment and Fourteenth Amendment rights as well as their parental right to make decisions about the care, custody, and control of their children have been violated by the policy. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWhen a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-school-district-adopts-transgender-notification-policy-amidst-controversy\/\" title=\"California school district adopts transgender notification policy amidst controversy.\">school district adopts<\/a> an explicit policy to usurp parental decision-<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">making authority over a major health-related decision\u2014and to conceal this from the parents\u2014parents who are subject to such a policy have standing to challenge it,\u201d the Wednesday legal filing from WILL <a href=\"https:\/\/will-law.org\/will-seeks-scotus-review-in-consequential-parental-rights-case\/\">said<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>The school has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wpr.org\/news\/federal-appeals-court-dismisses-eau-claire-schools-transgender-policy-lawsuit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stood by<\/a> the policy, saying that the goal of the policy is to get the parents on board with their child\u2019s change in gender identity.<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1700760801843000&#038;usg=AOvVaw2PQrVSrJfhxNb4LcARqniG\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIs federal standing law so constrained that when a school district openly declares what it will do when a child expresses a desire to transition \u2014 that it will not only make the decision for parents about whether that is in the child\u2019s best interest, but will also hide it from them \u2014 parents are powerless to challenge that policy until after their children have been harmed by it, hope they discover it, and even then, good luck overcoming all the other obstacles?\u201d the filing added. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Parents across the country have pushed for more transparency at public schools, especially pushing back against policies that allow a child\u2019s so-called \u201cgender transition\u201d to be hidden from the parents.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wisconsin parents urge Supreme Court to overturn district policy on parental notification of child&#8217;s transgender identity.
