It remains to be seen whether the result will help determine a winner in his expected rematch against President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/joe-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Joe Biden<\/a>, but the Republican powerhouse is far away from no longer being competitive due to the case.<\/p>\n<p>A New York jury <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/verdict-trump-found-guilty-on-all-charges-in-hush-money-case\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">convicted<\/a> Trump last Thursday on all 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to allegedly cover up payments in a bid to conceal a tryst with adult film star Stormy Daniels as part of a \u201ccatch-and-kill\u201d scheme to influence the 2016 election. Trump, who denied the affair and pleaded not guilty to the charges, said he would be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/white-house-race-plunges-into-uncharted-territory-trump-awaits-july-sentencing-2024-05-31\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cappealing this scam<\/a>.\u201d Sentencing is scheduled for July 11.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_744377\" style=\"width: 1034px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-744377\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Steven Hirsch \/ New York Post \/ Bloomberg via Getty Images<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Within the first several hours of the verdict, GOP online payment processor WinRed temporarily <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/live-updates\/2024\/05\/30\/trump-hush-money-criminal-trial\/winred-goes-down-00160845\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">crashed<\/a> as Trump\u2019s campaign website redirected to a page that sought donations, a sign that supporters were flooding the system. The Trump campaign later boasted $53 million was raised online within the first 24 hours, a large portion of its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pbs.org\/newshour\/politics\/trump-campaign-raises-141-million-in-may-bolstered-by-guilty-verdict\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$141 million haul<\/a> with the Republican National Committee (RNC) for the month of May. That figure dwarfs the $76 million they raised in April.<\/p>\n<p>It appears wealthy donors are warming up to Trump, and not just those in Republican circles. Shaun Maguire, a partner at venture capital firm Sequoia, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/shaunmmaguire\/status\/1796293774794268747\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> last week after the verdict that he just gave $300,000 to Trump after backing Hillary Clinton in 2016 and not voting in 2020. Hedge fund manager Bill Ackman, who has supported Democrats in the past, is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/billionaire-bill-ackman-a-longtime-democrat-likely-to-back-trump-over-biden-report\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reportedly<\/a> leaning toward Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Polls indicate the verdict did little to change public opinion. One from ABC News and Ipsos <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/plurality-americans-trumps-guilty-verdict-correct-hush-money\/story?id=110744698\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">showed<\/a> 50% of Americans think the guilty verdict was correct while 49% said they think Trump should end his campaign because of the conviction. However, Trump\u2019s favorability remained fixed at 31% while Biden\u2019s came in at 32%. Morning Consult <a href=\"https:\/\/pro.morningconsult.com\/trackers\/2024-presidential-election-polling\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">noted<\/a> Trump\u2019s polling lead shrunk from 2 points to 1 point after the verdict. A Reuters\/Ipsos poll <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/one-10-republicans-less-likely-vote-trump-after-guilty-verdict-reutersipsos-poll-2024-05-31\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">found<\/a> just one in 10 Republicans were less likely to vote for Trump after the guilty verdict. Trump\u2019s prospective matchup against Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.realclearpolling.com\/polls\/president\/general\/2024\/trump-vs-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">remains very close<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Three other criminal matters on the state and federal levels hang over Trump as he seeks re-election, prompting the former president to say he is the victim of a politically motivated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/trump-accuses-democrats-of-running-a-gestapo-administration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cwitch hunt.\u201d<\/a> It is not clear whether any of those cases will reach the trial stage before the November election. Still, they are certain to remain at the forefront as Trump\u2019s allies rally behind a message of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/jim-jordan-proposes-defunding-prosecutors-in-trump-cases\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">combating \u201clawfare.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>House Republicans aim to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/house-gop-smoking-out-political-retribution-by-prosecutors-in-trump-cases-speaker-johnson-says\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cfight back\u201d<\/a> with \u201ceverything in our arsenal\u201d against \u201cpolitical retribution in the court system to go after political opponents,\u201d Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) announced over the weekend. They have a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/top-house-republicans-unpack-three-pronged-response-to-prosecutions-against-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cthree-pronged\u201d plan<\/a> that involves investigations, legislation, and funds. In the Democrat-led Senate, a band of Republican senators have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/10-senate-republicans-sign-pledge-to-oppose-bidens-agenda-following-trump-guilty-verdict\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">vowed<\/a> to do what they can to stand in the way of Biden\u2019s agenda \u2014 including opposing his political and judicial nominees \u2014 to protest the prosecutions against Trump, though their ability to stop forward progress on their own is limited.<\/p>\n<p>Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT), a Republican who has spoken out against Trump during his time in Congress, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/mckaycoppins\/status\/1796896503018992039\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told<\/a> a staff writer for The Atlantic that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg \u201cshould have settled the case against Trump, as that would have been the normal procedure.\u201d He added, \u201cBut he made a political decision. Bragg may have won the battle, for now, but he may have lost the political war. Democrats think they can put out the Trump fire with oxygen.
