The memo, dated May \u206211, 2023, \u200dadvised against releasing such materials to prevent misinterpretation and potential imitation of violent acts. Access to these documents could fuel\u2064 &#8216;conspiracy theories&#8217; and spread misinformation. Following the tragic incident at\u200c a Christian school, a \u200dnewly disclosed FBI memo cautioned Metro Nashville Police against\u2062 releasing a \u200cschool shooter&#8217;s writings. It emphasized that sharing such documents could fuel &#8216;conspiracy theories&#8217; and disseminate misinformation.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>A newly revealed memo shows that t<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/topic\/fbi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FBI<\/a> told the Metro Nashville Police Department that the release of a school shooter\u2019s writings could lead to \u201cconspiracy theories\u201d and \u201cinaccurate information\u201d in the weeks following fatal shootings at a Christian school in Nashville, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/tennesseestar.com\/news\/fbi-memo-on-protection-of-legacy-tokens-sent-to-nashville-police-in-may-2023-opposed-release-of-covenant-killer-documents-cited-destruction-precedent\/tpappert\/2024\/06\/05\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">according<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  to a report from The Tennessee Star.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/dw-wp-production.imgix.net\/2024\/06\/LHM_Protection_of_Legacy_Tokens.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">memo<\/a>, dated May 11, 2023, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/inside-uc-san-franciscos-massive-abortion-training-network\/\" title=\"Inside UC San Francisco\u2019s Massive Abortion Training Network\">recently obtained<\/a> by The Star, was sent to Nashville Chief of Police John Drake after a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/tennessee-venue-to-host-trans-day-of-vengeance-concert-just-days-after-anniversary-of-covenant-shooting\/\" title=\"Tennessee Venue to Host 'Trans Day of Vengeance' Concert Shortly After Covenant Shooting Anniversary\">transgender-identifying woman killed<\/a> six people, including three children, at The Covenant School. It was also sent just days after Star News Digital Media, owner of The Tennessee Star, filed multiple lawsuits seeking the release of the killer\u2019s writings, which have remained sealed both by Nashville police and the FBI. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">While the memo does specifically mention The Covenant School shooting, it tells Drake that a mass shooter\u2019s writings and other documents, referred to as \u201clegacy tokens,\u201d should not be released to the public. The memo came from the FBI\u2019s Critical Incident Response Group in Quantico, Virginia. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Inside the memo, the FBI argued that the public should not have access to a shooter\u2019s materials because the writings would be misinterpreted and may inspire further attacks. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cReasonably, the request often proffered by those seeking the release of the materials revolves around the public\u2019s need to understand what led to such tragic events,\u201d the FBI said. \u201cYet, legacy tokens seldom provide the answers or comfort sought by the public and surviving victims.\u00a0 Offender\u2019s words are often misleading, biased, or lacking insight.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The FBI said the release would also lead to \u201cconspiracy theories.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cPublic access to legacy tokens will also facilitate false narratives and inaccurate information. For personal gain, self-professed \u2018experts\u2019 will proffer their perspectives on the motivations behind the attack,\u201d the memo said. \u201cThis also may lead to unintended consequences for the segment of the population more vulnerable or open to conspiracy theories, which will undoubtedly abound.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1716990157394000&#038;usg=AOvVaw33qQydjIo8bet419amChif\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Metro Nashville Police Department\u00a0Public Affairs Director Don Aaron told The Star on Tuesday that the FBI\u2019s Behavioral Analysis Unit has been working with Nashville police on the investigation into the shooting.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The release of the Covenant shooter\u2019s so-called \u201cmanifesto\u201d has been held up for months as both the FBI and Metro Nashville have refused to release the materials. A group of families from the school have also sought to block the release of the materials. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A Davidson County judge is currently looking at a lawsuit against the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hundreds-rally-in-support-of-those-jailed-in-jan-6-protest\/\" title=\"Hundreds rally in support of those jailed in Jan. 6 protest\">police brought<\/a> by a group, including The Star, looking to release the shooter\u2019s writings, while a federal judge is considering a similar challenge against the FBI. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Nashville Police said that it expects to release its full report and most of the shooter\u2019s writings in July, adding that its investigation is ongoing. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>A small <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/nashville-police-finally-address-leaked-images-of-covenant-school-shooters-manifesto\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">portion<\/a> was leaked in November by podcaster Steven Crowder, who obtained three photographs of the alleged writings.
