Hunter \u200dBiden&#8217;s alleged\u2063 perjury regarding a \u200cWhatsApp message and James Biden&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sidney-powell-is-an-american-legal-giant\/\" title=\"Sidney Powell Is an American Legal Giant\">false statements<\/a> were highlighted. The evidence provided aimed to support\u200c the allegations made against them.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>House <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/republicans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Republicans<\/a> referred Hunter and James Biden to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/justice-department\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Department of Justice\">Department of Justice<\/a> on Wednesday for criminal prosecution over allegations they lied to Congress during <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gop-seeks-answers-from-hunter-biden-linked-firm-accused-of-illegal-foreign-lobbying\/\" title=\"GOP wants answers from Hunter Biden-linked firm accused of illegal foreign lobbying\">closed-door interviews<\/a> about their business dealings.<\/p>\n<p>Reps. James Comer (R-KY), Jim Jordan (R-OH), and Jason Smith (R-MO), the House chairmen leading an impeachment inquiry into President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Joe Biden\">Joe Biden<\/a>, detailed in a letter what they described as \u201coverwhelming evidence\u201d of felony false statement and perjury violations.<\/p>\n<p>The letter, addressed to Attorney General Merrick Garland and special counsel David Weiss, included a 60-page brief about the lies the chairmen allege the president\u2019s son and brother told during their meetings with Congress in February.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHunter Biden and James Biden made provably false statements to the Oversight Committee and the Judiciary Committee about key aspects of the impeachment inquiry, in what appears to be a conscious effort to hinder the investigation\u2019s focus on President Joe Biden,\u201d the chairmen wrote.<\/p>\n<p>They said Hunter Biden perjured himself in his deposition when he was grilled by lawmakers about a WhatsApp message the first son wrote to the executive of a Chinese energy conglomerate in 2017. (AP Photo\/Jose Luis Magana)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI am sitting here with my father and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled,\u201d Hunter Biden wrote in the message. \u201cAnd Z if I get a call or text from anyone involved in this other than you, Zhang or the Chairman I will make certain that between the man sitting next to me and every person he knows and my ability to forever hold a grudge that you will regret not following my direction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hunter Biden told the committee he was deeply \u201cembarrassed\u201d by the message and was \u201cdrunk and probably high\u201d when he sent it. He said he sent it to Henry Zhao, a businessman unaffiliated with the Chinese company, and that Raymond Zhao never received it.<\/p>\n<p>The House Ways and Means Committee recently <a href=\"https:\/\/waysandmeans.house.gov\/2024\/05\/22\/ways-and-means-committee-releases-evidence-showing-hunter-biden-lied-under-oath-during-recent-congressional-testimony\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>released<\/a> evidence that revealed three months of additional messages between Hunter Biden and the Zhao who received the WhatsApp message. The messages included correspondence about CEFC, which the chairmen said \u201ccompletely refutes\u201d Hunter Biden\u2019s claims in his deposition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe fabricated the story out of whole cloth,\u201d the chairmen wrote.<\/p>\n<p>They also alleged that Hunter Biden perjured himself when he said he did not hold a corporate secretary position with an entity called Rosemont Seneca Bohai.<\/p>\n<p>The chairmen recommended James Biden be prosecuted for false statements as well. (AP Photo\/Andrew Harnik)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Republican lawmakers said James Biden lied when he said he was not present for a meeting that featured Joe Biden and former Biden associate Tony Bobulinski at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in California in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The referrals come as the House Oversight Committee, which has been leading the impeachment inquiry, nears the conclusion of its investigation into whether Joe Biden used his political power to help his family members profit in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/left-wing-rating-agency-grades-media-that-botched-hunter-biden-story-with-100-percent-credibility\/\" title=\"Left-Wing Rating Agency Grades Media That Botched Hunter Biden Story With 100 Percent Credibility\">overseas business ventures<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>After more than a year of investigative activity, including conducting numerous witness interviews and acquiring hundreds of thousands of documents, the Republican conference has not shown signs that it will hold a vote to impeach the president over the committee\u2019s findings. However, the Republicans still found that Joe Biden\u2019s family members raked in millions of dollars from their work with foreign entities, including Ukraine and China, at times by touting their name.<\/p>\n<p>A committee spokesperson said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/iran-continues-nuclear-program-aims-to-enrich-uranium-to-20\/\" title=\"Iran continues nuclear program, aims to enrich uranium to 20%\">recent statement<\/a> that the panel would outline its findings \u201cin a report with recommendations and criminal referrals soon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A committee spokesperson said Wednesday that the referrals of Hunter and James Biden do not represent the end of the inquiry and that there is \u201cmore to come.\u201d The time frame for the final impeachment report\u2019s release is unclear.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The DOJ is not obligated to address criminal referrals from Congress. Still, the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service <a href=\"https:\/\/crsreports.congress.gov\/product\/pdf\/LSB\/LSB10879\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>states<\/a> that such referrals \u201cshould not be treated as a wholly symbolic act,\u201d given they can, at times, show lawmakers uncovered evidence of criminal wrongdoing.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> reached out to attorneys for Hunter and James Biden for comment.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>House Republicans referred Hunter and James Biden to the Department of Justice for allegedly lying to Congress about their business dealings.
