Douglas Golden<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   June 5, 2024 at 8:14am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>The fact that we\u2019re talking about the WNBA for once is because of one person and one person only: Caitlin Clark.<\/p>\n<p>Usually, if someone else is in the equation, it\u2019s because of how they relate to the former University of Iowa star and Indiana Fever rookie. It\u2019s almost never in a good way, either.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s doubly true when you consider Chennedy Carter, the troubled Chicago Sky player who\u2019s now best known for a brutal hip-check on Clark during a game this past weekend, one which has raised the question as to whether the No. 1 draft pick is being targeted by the league\u2019s veterans and whether or not race is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/espn-host-pat-mcafee-stands-ground-white-caitlin-clark-backlash-facts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">playing a factor in it<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Even former Fox News and current SiriusXM host Megyn Kelly noted that the foul wasn\u2019t a good look on the league, saying that players should stop \u201cmiring themselves in blinding envy of\u201d Clark and \u201ctry to be more like her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In case you haven\u2019t seen it \u2014 and really, where have you been hiding? \u2014 this was the foul in question:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Chennedy Carter scores and gives a shoulder to Caitlin Clark<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/nQxkw1rvhH\">pic.twitter.com\/nQxkw1rvhH<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 \u2736 \u24c2\ufe0f\ud835\udd52\ud835\udd63\ud835\udd54\ud835\udd66\ud835\udd64 \u25b6\ufe0f \u2736 (@_MarcusD3_) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/_MarcusD3_\/status\/1796957092957352279?\">June 1, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>To make things more problematic, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-pat-mcafee-torches-wnba-media-going-white-caitlin-clark-call\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Carter<\/a> could be seen mouthing a word that looked an awful lot like \u201cb****\u201d when the play was viewed from the front \u2014 although, in fairness, I\u2019m not particularly adept at lip-reading.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">What\u2019s going on here <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WNBA?\">@WNBA<\/a>? Chennedy Carter pushes Caitlin Clark while calling her a b**** and Angel Reese jumps off the bench and applauds Carter. Then Reese clothes lines Clark to the floor, Reese says something to her. Perhaps the same one word syllable Kennedy used? <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/XNhQG2CR2h\">pic.twitter.com\/XNhQG2CR2h<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 I am Legend (@Grannytologist) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Grannytologist\/status\/1796976868337287649?\">June 1, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Are you a fan of Caitlin Clark?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>After the 71-70 loss to Clark\u2019s Fever on Saturday night, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-wnba-player-rages-wont-answer-caitlin-clark-questions-hitting-cheap-shot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Carter told reporters<\/a>, \u201cI ain\u2019t answering no Caitlin Clark questions.\u201d She revised this policy during Monday\u2019s practice, insisting that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/actor-of-the-year-lebron-james-goes-viral-after-exaggerating-injury\/\" title=\"\u2018Actor Of The Year\u2019: LeBron James Goes Viral After Exaggerating Injury\">hard foul<\/a> was merely competition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow that it\u2019s another day, I\u2019ve had an off day, now I can answer your questions, and I can let you know how I really feel about things,\u201d Carter said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I\u2019m a competitor, and I\u2019m going to compete no matter who you are and no matter who\u2019s in front of me,\u201d she continued. \u201cWe\u2019re getting at it. We\u2019re going back and forth. It\u2019s basketball. It\u2019s all hoops. After we finish the game, it\u2019s all love.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t have any regrets with anything,\u201d she added. \u201cI\u2019m going to compete and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/watch-chennedy-carter-doesnt-have-any-regrets-about-caitlin-clark-shove-were-getting-at-it\/\" title=\"Watch Chennedy Carter express no regrets about the Caitlin Clark incident. Neither can Angel Reese, Clark\u2019s top rival in college and another Chicago Sky player who beclowned herself by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-angel-reese-throws-jab-caitlin-clark-cheap-shot-backlash-go-history\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">celebrating the hard off-ball foul<\/a> Carter dished out from the sidelines.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t hockey from the 1970s; nobody\u2019s tuning in to watch a bunch of enforcers duke it out. In this case, it isn\u2019t even over protecting one\u2019s teammate, as hockey fights tend to be about, but \u201cblinding envy,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/must-watch-megyn-kelly-gives-democrats-brutal-warning-celebrating-trump-conviction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">as Kelly<\/a> pointed out.<\/p>\n<p>At long last, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/stephen-smith-lights-analyst-wnba-delusion-caitlin-clark-jealousy-talks-wnba\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the WNBA<\/a> has sports fans watching it. That should have players <em>celebrating<\/em> Clark, not violently jealous over the attention she\u2019s getting.
