Despite being found not \u2063guilty, Khan was expelled from Yale and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-admin-to-grant-funds-for-environmental-protection-in-trump-border-wall-case\/\" title=\"Biden Admin to Fund Environmental Protection in Trump Border Wall Dispute\">filed \u200clawsuits<\/a> against the\u2062 university, his accuser, \u200dand the organizations. \u2062The organizations, in an amicus brief, \u2063alleged false and defamatory statements, leading\u200d to legal disputes with the Connecticut Supreme Court.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p>A former Yale University student who was accused of sexual assault but acquitted at trial is suing 15 women\u2019s organizations he says defamed him after the verdict.<\/p>\n<p>Saifullah Khan was found not guilty in March 2018 but was subsequently expelled from Yale anyway. He sued the university and his accuser \u2013 and is <a href=\"https:\/\/civilinquiry.jud.ct.gov\/DocumentInquiry\/DocumentInquiry.aspx?DocumentNo=27589553\">now suing<\/a> women\u2019s organizations he says defamed him in post-verdict filings.<\/p>\n<p>While suing Yale and his accuser, who has not been named in court or the media, the 15 organizations applied to file an amicus brief with the Connecticut Supreme Court. The filing included a proposed brief, which Khan says included \u201cseveral false and defamatory statements.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Those statements include the opening sentence, which stated as fact, \u201cWhen Jane Doe was in college, the Plaintiff raped her,\u201d even though Khan was acquitted. The brief also claimed that \u201cher rapist invented an ambiguity in Connecticut law and subjected her to years of costly and traumatic retaliatory litigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the brief, the organizations referred to the accuser as a \u201cvictim\u201d and noted in a footnote that \u201cJane Doe was raped\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When Khan and his attorney objected to the organizations\u2019 application to file the amicus brief, the groups defended their claims as \u201csupported by the record.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Connecticut Supreme Court disagreed with the claim, denying the application but allowing them to refile. In its denial, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/autistic-college-student-punished-for-fist-bumps-and-selfies-gets-upsetting-news-in-court\/\" title=\"Autistic College Student Punished For Fist Bumps And Selfies Gets Upsetting News In Court\">court argued<\/a> that any refiling must be \u201cshorn of all facts not supported by the record.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When the organizations refiled their brief, the opening sentence was changed to say: \u201cJane Doe, while a student at Yale University, engaged in Yale\u2019s legally-obligated reporting and disciplinary procedures to report that plaintiff had sexually assaulted her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As Khan notes in his lawsuit, the original proposed brief is still <a href=\"https:\/\/appellateinquiry.jud.ct.gov\/DocumentDisplayer.aspx?AppId=2&#038;DocId=qIg2wdaGkywLFsHjxUajVA%3d%3d\">permanently available<\/a> on the Connecticut Supreme Court website.<\/p>\n<p>Khan filed professional ethics complaints against Jennifer Becker, an attorney associated with the initial brief. When answering the complaint, Becker apologized for the language, saying, \u201cI first want to acknowledge and apologize for the offending language that was included in the draft amicus brief.\u201d She added that her language \u201cwas over-zealous and unnecessarily forceful.\u201d She also directly addressed the use of the word \u201crape,\u201d saying it was used \u201cwithout qualification that it was an allegation\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She claimed, however, that \u201cany overzealousness on my part was ameliorated by the Court\u2019s order and there is no resulting harm to Mr. Khan.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><b><a href=\"https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" aria-describedby=\"sk-tooltip-9096\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/onelink.to\/dwapp&#038;source=gmail&#038;ust=1716990157394000&#038;usg=AOvVaw33qQydjIo8bet419amChif\">CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Khan disagrees and is suing Becker and 15 women\u2019s organizations who signed on to the amicus brief: Jewish Women International, Legal Momentum, The Fierberg National Law Group, Chicago Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation, Connecticut Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Futures Without Violence, Advocates For Youth, National Alliance to End Sexual Violence, National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, National Crime Victim Law Institute, National Network to End Domestic Violence, National Women\u2019s Law Center, Network for Victim Recovery, Sanctuary for Families, and the Women\u2019s Law Project.<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Wire previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/a-jury-acquitted-him-on-all-charges-but-yale-still-expelled-him-now-hes-suing-the-school-and-his-accuser\">reported<\/a> on the details of Khan\u2019s case. In March 2018, a jury found him not guilty in a court of law. While some could argue that \u201cnot guilty\u201d does not mean \u201cinnocent,\u201d some jurors <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2018\/03\/16\/setting-the-record-straight-on-the-yale-sex-assault-trial\/\">said<\/a> they perceived him as innocent after the trial.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s innocent, and the facts prove it,\u201d said Elise Wiener, an alternate juror who saw the same evidence as the other jurors. \u201cHe was acquitted because he deserved to be acquitted and the prosecutor should never have brought the case in the first place.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Saifullah Khan, a former Yale student acquitted of sexual assault in 2018, is suing 15 women\u2019s organizations for defamation.
