The scandal has led to product suspensions and a broader investigation into automotive safety practices in Japan.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/news\/\">  News <\/a>   <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/russdavis\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/russdavis\/%20\"><span>Jack Davis<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   June 5, 2024 at 8:53am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>Japanese government officials are combing the headquarters of Toyota after reports emerged that Toyota and other Japanese carmakers cut corners and submitted faulty safety data.<\/p>\n<p>Japan\u2019s Ministry of Transport said its investigation at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/toyota-recalls-211000-prius-vehicles-potentially-dangerous-flaw\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Toyota\u2019s headquarters<\/a> will last for several days, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/06\/04\/cars\/japan-toyota-raid-safety-scandal-hnk-intl\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Toyota\u2019s chairman said cars had not gone through proper safety inspections before being sold, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2024\/06\/03\/business\/toyota-mazda-halt-shipments-japan-safety\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNN<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>The scandal comes as the world\u2019s biggest carmaker by sales grapples with growing concerns over the certification of some of its vehicles, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/c1wwj1p2wdyo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Toyota has suspended making three models \u2013 the Corolla Fielder, Corolla Axio and Yaris Cross.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Toyota Chairman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/toyota-chairman-hesitant-embrace-electric-vehicles-says-people-finally-seeing-reality\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Akio Toyoda<\/a> apologized to customers and car enthusiasts. He bowed deeply in a public apology.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Toyota Chairman Akio Toyoda apologized Monday for massive cheating on certification tests for seven vehicle models as the automaker suspended production of three of them. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/wTFoLg6C3F\">https:\/\/t.co\/wTFoLg6C3F<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 WFAA (@wfaa) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/wfaa\/status\/1797757682494947465?\">June 3, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe neglected the certification process and mass produced our cars without first taking the proper precautionary steps,\u201d he said, according to the BBC.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Have you ever owned a Toyota?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The scandal has mushroomed beyond Toyota, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/06\/03\/business\/japan-toyota-testing-investigation.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The New York Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Honda, Mazda, Suzuki and Yamaha all admitted that they had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/now-wheels-wont-stay-toyotas-new-electric-car-dangerously-fails-results-massive-recall\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cut corners<\/a> in submitting safety data about their vehicles in the past decade\u00a0 Although the carmakers have said their vehicles are safe despite the data, Mazda has suspended sales of two models sold only in Japan.<\/p>\n<p>The vehicles involved were all sold in Japan, the Times reported.<\/p>\n<p>The scandal\u2019s roots came in December when Daihatsu, a Toyota subsidiary, said most of its vehicles did not undergo proper collision testing, according to the Times. Another Toyota unit followed that by saying it faked data about engine power, the Times reported.<\/p>\n<p>Japan\u2019s transport ministry then ordered multiple companies to investigate their testing processes.<\/p>\n<p>Satoru Aoyama, a senior director at Fitch Ratings, told the Times the issue may be as much perception as actual car quality.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrat-calls-for-gender-equality-in-crash-test-dummies\/\" title=\"Democrat Calls For \u2018Gender Equality\u2019 In Crash Test Dummies\">vehicle safety<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/this-mlb-player-is-doing-something-that-hasnt-been-done-since-babe-ruth\/\" title=\"This MLB Player Is Doing Something That Hasn\u2019t Been Done Since Babe Ruth\">performance isn\u2019<\/a>t impacted, this latest revelation isn\u2019t hugely critical for the companies involved,\u201d he said<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere has long been a perception of the superior manufacturing and quality of Japanese products and with these instances of fraud appearing again and again, perceptions may be beginning to change,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Toyoda tried to nip consumer fears in the bud.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese acts shake the very foundation of the verification system,\u201d he said. \u201cThey should have never been committed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will carry out concrete improvements.\u201d<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>An Important Message from Our Staff:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>In just a few months, the world is going to change forever.
