This move, \u2064under the\u200d Clean Power Plan, threatens grid stability and hikes electricity costs. Legal battles are underway, challenging \u200bEPA\u2064 regulations like the &#8220;good neighbor&#8221; \u2064rule violating state-federal cooperation models. Concerns arise about the reliability of \u200bwind and solar energy sources to replace fossil fuels effectively amidst these transitions.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Left-wing bureaucrats at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are working hard to force states to abandon reliable, low-cost, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/prager-on-ukraine-comedians-nato-america-and-environmentalists\/\" title=\"PRAGER: On Ukraine, Comedians, NATO, America And Environmentalists\">fossil fuel-based energy<\/a> in favor of unreliable, high-cost, solar, wind, and battery-based power.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The EPA\u2019s latest scheme includes a power grab for the grid by imposing several new regulatory commandments that states must follow under the Clean Power Plan and the Clean Air Act. The intended effect of these regulations is to replace the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/crenshaw-blisters-bernie-after-climate-rant-its-actually-not-about-climate-change-its-about-control\/\" title=\"Crenshaw Blisters Bernie After Climate Rant: \u2018It\u2019s Actually Not About Climate Change, It\u2019s About Control\u2019\">fossil fuel-fired plants<\/a> that form the backbone of America\u2019s electric grid with renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">I call it Joe Biden\u2019s plan to wreck the grid \u2014 a grid which provides the energy needed to charge our iPhones, access the internet, heat and cool our homes, and power our schools, businesses, factories, farms, and hospitals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This reckless and radical scheme jeopardizes the safety and security of America\u2019s electrical grid and forces all of us to pay far more for the electricity we take for granted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Indeed, the Indiana Municipal Power Agency \u2014 which provides electricity to many rural customers \u2014 projects a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/consumer-watchdog-launches-campaign-exposing-duke-energy-esg-priorities-over-reliable-power-grid\/\" title=\"Consumer Watchdog exposes Duke Energy's ESG priorities over reliable power grid in new campaign.\">double-digit rate increase<\/a> under the Biden administration\u2019s Clean Power Plan 2.0.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The\u00a0EPA\u2019s pet project to force the grid to go green is also illegal \u2014 which is why my office is fighting these regulations in court.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>The Good Neighbor Rule<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The first legal challenge is\u00a0to\u00a0the\u00a0\u201cgood neighbor\u201d rule imposed under the Clean Air Act, which requires states to reduce ozone pollution from in-state sources transported downwind into other states. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Although the EPA establishes national air quality standards, Congress has reserved to the states the authority to determine how those standards will be met \u2014 including those relating to states\u2019 \u201cgood neighbor\u201d obligations. This dual allocation of responsibility between the federal government and the states reflects the Clean Air Act\u2019s \u201ccooperative federalism\u201d model. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As the U.S. Supreme Court noted in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Union Elec. Co. v. EPA<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, each state enjoys \u201cwide discretion in formulating its [air pollution] plan.\u201d Biden bureaucrats\u00a0apparently\u00a0never got that memo. In 2022, the EPA arbitrarily rejected the good neighbor plans of 23 states, including Indiana\u2019s. To make things worse, instead of allowing states to remedy any alleged deficiencies in their plans, as the Clean Air Act contemplates, the EPA imposed a one-size-fits-all\u00a0plan on the states. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In truth, Biden bureaucrats aren\u2019t interested in working with Indiana or any other state. So much for the \u201ccooperative federalism\u201d model; under this Administration, it\u2019s do as you\u2019re told. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">However, Hoosiers don\u2019t bend the knee to D.C. bureaucrats, which is why my office has joined the attorneys general of Ohio and West Virginia in a legal challenge to the EPA\u2019s \u201cgood neighbor\u201d rule.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In addition to the dubious legality of the \u201cgood neighbor\u201d rule, the EPA has failed to address where the energy to support the electric grid will come from after fossil fuel-based sources are forced offline.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The company managing the electrical grid for Indiana and other states, PJM, recently <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pjm.com\/-\/media\/library\/reports-notices\/special-reports\/2023\/energy-transition-in-pjm-resource-retirements-replacements-and-risks.ashx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">reported<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  that the current pace of new energy sources, such as solar and wind, would be \u201cinsufficient\u201d to keep up with expected retirements of fossil-fuel energy sources mandated by the EPA.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The report explains that wind and solar energy sources are \u201cintermittent and limited duration resources\u201d\u2014meaning the sun doesn\u2019t always shine and the wind doesn\u2019t always blow. Thus, for each megawatt of electricity generated by fossil fuels lost under the EPA rule, it will take multiple megawatts of wind and solar energy to replace it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Don\u2019t be fooled by the Administration\u2019s green energy gas bags touting the alleged superiority of solar and wind power. They may have a role in meeting America\u2019s future power needs, but they are inferior when it comes to producing reliable power.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Joe Biden claims that his energy policies will make electricity more affordable, but Hoosiers know hogwash when they hear it. Great Britain and Germany live under the same mandates the Biden administration pushes here, and people there pay about <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">three times<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  more for electricity than Americans.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Rather than being dissuaded by these facts,\u00a0Biden bureaucrats are doubling down. The EPA just unveiled the final version of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ten-joe-biden-2021-blunders-that-killed-the-american-energy-renaissance\/\" title=\"Ten Joe Biden 2021 Blunders that Killed the American Energy Renaissance\u00a0\">rule regulating greenhouse gas emissions<\/a> from power plants.\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0proud that my office, in conjunction with West Virginia, is leading a 25-state strong coalition challenging the new rule\u2014a rehash of the Obama-era \u201cClean Power Plan\u201d\u00a0found unlawful by the Supreme Court in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">West Virginia v. Environmental Protection Agency<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Like its predecessor, Clean Power Plan 2.0 would shutter fossil fuel power plants, despite the Court\u2019s rejection of the notion that federal bureaucrats can dictate \u201chow Americans will get their energy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Given the advent of new technologies with an unquenchable thirst for electricity, regulations that reduce the power supply can only be called reckless. As demand for power grows and these radical green policies suppress supply, electricity prices will surge \u2014 jolting the most vulnerable Hoosiers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Joe Biden\u2019s energy bureaucrats are fully committed to their radical and reckless agenda to wreck the grid, despite the untold costs to Americans\u2019 security and pocketbooks.
