The trial also involves family testimonies. President Biden\u2063 expressed support for his son. The case involves potential family conflict, highlighting the significance of\u200c the \u2062trial. Upper III<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   June 5, 2024 at 6:57am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>In opening arguments Tuesday, Hunter Biden\u2019s legal team made it clear that they would be trying to pin the blame for their client\u2019s bad behavior on Biden \u2014 Hallie Biden, that is.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2024\/06\/05\/hunter-biden-family-trial-joe-jill-felony-gun\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Axios<\/a> reported early Wednesday that \u201cHunter\u2019s lead defense attorney Abbe Lowell repeatedly deflected blame toward Hallie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hallie Biden, who is the widow of Hunter\u2019s brother, Beau, was engaged in a romantic relationship with Hunter in October of 2018, which is when Hunter purchased a firearm, for which transaction he is now on trial.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bidens-weaponized-doj-targets-pro-life-activists-new-lawsuit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Justice Department<\/a>, Hunter signed a federal form that claimed he was not using drugs, though he was addicted to both alcohol and crack cocaine at the time.<\/p>\n<p>Hallie also struggled with addiction during her relationship with Hunter, the prosecution said.<\/p>\n<p>The president\u2019s son is now facing three <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/afghan-refugees-face-federal-charges-after-trying-to-rape-child-strangle-woman-in-wisconsin-report\/\" title=\"Afghan Refugees Face Federal Charges After Trying To Rape Child, Strangle Woman In Wisconsin: Report\">federal charges related<\/a> to that purchase.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLowell said that Hallie Biden \u2014 who is set to testify as soon as Wednesday and has been granted immunity \u2014 found the gun and \u2018created a firestorm,\u2019 \u2018freaked out,\u2019 \u2018freaked out again,\u2019 \u2018took it upon herself to take the gun,\u2019 and put it in a Dumpster near a Delaware grocery store,\u201d Axios reported.<\/p>\n<p>He also emphasized the fact that \u201cHallie, not Hunter\u201d disposed of the firearm in an irresponsible manner, leaving it where just about anyone could find and take it, according to the outlet.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Do you think Hunter Biden will be found guilty?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In fact, the gun was found by another man, who apparently reported it to the police.<\/p>\n<p>Two officers involved with the recovery of the firearm are expected to take their turns on the witness stand.<\/p>\n<p>Hallie Biden probably won\u2019t be the only Biden family member testifying against Hunter, Axios noted, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/hunter-bidens-attempt-reduce-child-support-payments-backfires-finds-serious-financial-scrutiny\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kathleen Buhle<\/a>, Hunter\u2019s ex-wife, is also on the prosecution\u2019s witness list.<\/p>\n<p>On the other side, President Joe Biden\u2019s brother <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/cbs-news-uncovers-150-banking-transactions-involving-hunter-james-biden-flagged-concerning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">James Biden<\/a> and Buhle\u2019s daughter Naomi Biden are both possible defense witnesses.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBuhle and Hallie likely will testify about Hunter\u2019s addiction to crack cocaine, while Jimmy and Naomi are likely to testify about Hunter\u2019s state of mind when he bought a gun in Wilmington,\u201d Axios explained.<\/p>\n<p>As Axios wrote, the trial \u201cwon\u2019t just be the U.S. v. Biden \u2014 it\u2019ll also be Biden v. Biden.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The infamous \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/department-justice-finally-admits-truth-hunter-biden-laptop-new-court-filing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hunter Biden laptop<\/a>\u201d has also been entered into evidence in the case by the DOJ.<\/p>\n<p>The three charges carry a maximum sentence of 25 years, although many outlets have noted that such a severe sentence is unlikely in the case of a first-time offender.<\/p>\n<p>President Biden issued <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/press-briefings\/2024\/06\/04\/press-gaggle-by-press-secretary-karine-jean-pierre-en-route-white-plains-ny\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a statement<\/a> prior to the start of the trial, supporting his son.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am the President, but I am also a dad. Jill and I love our son, and we are so proud of the man he is today. Hunter\u2019s resilience in the face of adversity and the strength he has brought to his recovery are inspiring to us.
