(AP Photo\/Julia Nikhinson)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Last week, a 12-member <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/new-york\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New York<\/a> jury found Trump guilty of 34 criminal counts of falsifying business records to cover up an affair with porn actress Stormy Daniels during the 2016 election. <\/p>\n<p>The sentencing could potentially carry up to four years in prison. Judge Juan Merchan has set sentencing for July 11, days before the Republican National Committee convention is set to begin on July 15. <\/p>\n<p>Unlike Trump\u2019s former rivals, Haley has not yet commented on Trump\u2019s conviction, although some of her supporters hope she will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3024097\/nikki-haley-trump-guilty-verdict-fans-urge-unsuspend\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>reconsider jumping back<\/a> into the 2024 race. <\/p>\n<p>Despite dropping out of the race the day after Super Tuesday, Haley has continued to rack up double digits in state primaries and has amassed 97 delegates in the presidential race. <\/p>\n<p>Last month, Haley <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/hub\/ap-election-2024-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">won nearly 23%<\/a> of the Maryland GOP primary, compared to Trump\u2019s 77.3%. In ruby-red Nebraska, Haley won<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/hub\/ap-election-2024-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> a little over 18%<\/a> of the vote while Trump won nearly 80% of the vote.<\/p>\n<p>Haley won just a little <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/hub\/ap-election-2024-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">over 9%<\/a> of the vote in West Virginia, a Trump-friendly state, as the former president won 88.4%. <\/p>\n<p>Even more concerning for Trump is Haley\u2019s notable pull in the handful of states that will decide the election. <\/p>\n<p>In Pennsylvania, a state that Trump lost in 2020, Haley pulled in more than <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/projects\/election-results-2024\/pennsylvania\/?r=39290\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">158,000 votes<\/a>, or 16.6% of the vote. Haley won<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/projects\/election-results-2024\/wisconsin\/?r=50002\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> nearly 13%<\/a> of the vote in Wisconsin, another battleground state, last month.<\/p>\n<p>In Arizona, Haley won almost 18% of the GOP primary and while she was still a presidential candidate she won almost 27% of the vote in Michigan. <\/p>\n<p>After challenging Trump to win over her supporters during her concession speech, Haley would later claim that she will vote for the former president in the November election. <\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/a><\/strong> <\/p>\n<p>But that hasn\u2019t stopped the Biden campaign from holding meetings with Haley supporters in a bid to win them over.<\/p>\n<p>As Trump maintains his innocence and threatens to appeal the New York ruling, voters who could sway the election appear to be moving away from Trump early polls show. <\/p>\n<p>A recent ABC News\/Ipsos <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/Politics\/majority-independents-double-haters-trump-end-2024-campaign\/story?id=110778206\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>poll<\/a> showed 52% of independents believe Trump should suspend his campaign after the conviction and 67% of \u201cdouble haters,\u201d those who dislike Trump and Biden, also said Trump should suspend his campaign following the trial. <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The recent GOP primary night following Donald Trump&#8217;s felony conviction indicated Republican support for former presidential candidate Nikki Haley.
