Kennedy, Jr., caught my attention.<\/p>\n<p>I concurred with his opposition to the COVID vaccine and appreciated the pandemic research through his Children\u2019s Defense Fund, whose newsletter I continue to read.<\/p>\n<p>Not that I would ever vote for him, but more about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/robert-kennedys-latest-move-sink-bidens-chances-2024-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kennedy<\/a> became apparent when he declared himself a 2024 presidential candidate.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the wisdom of his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/kennedy-clan-turn-rfk-jr-deplorable-ethnically-targeted-covid-vaccine-claim\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">vaccine opposition<\/a>, Robert Kennedy is full of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statesman.com\/story\/news\/politics\/politifact\/2024\/05\/16\/fact-check-rfk-jr-s-positions-on-voter-id-the-nra-affirmative-action\/73704268007\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tired, old leftists beliefs<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And some newer ones \u2014 such as advocating phasing out gasoline cars for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/drivers-passengers-getting-sick-electric-vehicles-doctor-confirms-real-thing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">electric ones<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He staked out those positions in various media appearances, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/rfk-jr-past-support-higher-gas-prices-consumers-boost-electric-cars-resurfaces?utm_medium=email&#038;utm_source=ncl_amplify&#038;utm_campaign=240604-fox_news_rfk_jrs_past_support_for_higher_gas_prices_and_electric_cars_surfaces&#038;utm_content=ncl-Er9AfH52EV&#038;_nlid=Er9AfH52EV&#038;_nhids=0O3F2vW\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox News contributor<\/a> Joe Concha. And based upon a 2003 speech, he\u2019s held similar beliefs for a long time.<\/p>\n<p>In an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=R-UhPmMWT6M\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interview last year<\/a>, Kennedy said the most important thing for the nation \u201cmore important than anything else, is to get off of foreign oil, whatever it takes. And I think if we had true markets \u2014 We spend $5.2 trillion a year on subsidies to the carbon industry, and that doesn\u2019t include the $8 trillion that we spend on wars protecting essentially oil pipelines.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Basically, Kennedy said all <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/newsom-blames-high-gas-prices-oil-companies-vows-hurt-punitive-tax\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">oil costs<\/a> for petroleum \u2014 including military defense \u2014 should be folded into the retail cost of gasoline.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf those companies were forced to internalize those costs, gasoline would cost its true price, which is about $22 a gallon, and we would be figuring out, using American initiative and our industrial genius, other ways to get around,\u201d Kennedy said.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Is RFK Jr. a radical wolf in moderate sheep&#8217;s clothing?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Twenty-two dollars a gallon? Average U.S. gas price Tuesday was <a href=\"https:\/\/gasprices.aaa.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$3.52<\/a> per gallon, and Kennedy wants to multiply that by more than sixfold?<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=lpIkFpiw-PU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2016 speech<\/a> at the University of California, Berkeley, Kennedy toned it down a bit, calling for $12 per gallon. But in that presentation, he called for the price to reflect the effect of petroleum use on local populations, including their healthcare costs and results of crop damage and acid rain.<\/p>\n<p>It wouldn\u2019t be about economics. No, according to Kennedy, at $12 per gallon, \u201cwe\u2019d be sending correct signals to the marketplace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So, from those signals, what would the marketplace need to adopt as an alternative?<\/p>\n<p>Why, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-consumer-reports-finds-electric-vehicles-significantly-less-reliable-gas-vehicles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">electric vehicles<\/a>, of course.<\/p>\n<p>Kennedy told the audience at Berkeley that the federal government should develop an \u201cecosystem\u201d that pushes efficient technologies and that \u201cpunishes\u201d \u2014 his word, according to Fox\u2019s Concha \u2014 what Kennedy terms \u201cthe inefficiencies of oil and coal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a 2013 article for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/oil-industry-republicans-congress_b_3252170\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Huff Post<\/a>, Kennedy said a $12 per gallon gas costs would mean \u201cmost Americans would be running to buy electric cars.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He described those electric cars as \u201ccheap, fast, and efficient.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, consumers on the ground are wrestling with electric cars that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/electric-vehicle-manufacturers-forced-slash-prices-consumers-send-clear-message\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cost too much<\/a>, have greatly reduced resale value, have problems <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/poll-reveals-biggest-reason-preventing-americans-buying-electric-cars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">being charged<\/a>, and even explode into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/firefighters-issue-warning-ev-fires-require-10x-water-put-10000-gallons-water\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unquenchable fires<\/a> from time to time.<\/p>\n<p>And where would all that electricity to power those cars come from?<\/p>\n<p>Domestic electricity demand increased by about 5 percent from around 2012 to 2022, but it is expected to be up 18 percent by 2030 and 38 percent by 2035, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2023\/07\/01\/why-the-ev-boom-could-put-a-major-strain-on-our-power-grid.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CNBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While there\u2019s been increased residential electric use for things like stoves and space heaters, most growth in power demand is expected to be in transportation, according to a study by Princeton University, CNBC reported.<\/p>\n<p>But that demand \u2014 especially from decarbonized sources \u2014 requires massive amounts of renewable energy, according to Rob Gramlich, head of an electrical transmission policy group.<\/p>\n<p>And its more than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/foolishly-overlooked-problems-renewables-contributing-texass-energy-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wind and solar<\/a> generation \u2014 the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/with-venezuela-in-shambles-maduro-announces-15-day-backpacking-vacation\/\" title=\"With Venezuela in Shambles, Maduro Announces 15-Day Backpacking Vacation\">national electric grid<\/a> needs more high-voltage long-distance transmission lines, more local distribution to houses, and things like inverters for home battery systems.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think right now people have an overly simplistic view of what electrification of transportation means,\u201d said Aram Shumavon, CEO of Kevala, a company that analyzes the electrical grid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf done right, it will be phenomenal,\u201d he said. \u201cIf mismanaged, there are going to be a lot of upset people, and that is a real risk. That\u2019s a risk for regulators. That\u2019s a risk for politicians, and that\u2019s a risk for utilities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Electric cars or no, what happens if gasoline goes up even a fraction of what Kennedy wants?<\/p>\n<p>While more than 12 years old, predictions by Kiplingers at that time were based on a gas price increase to $5 per gallon.<\/p>\n<p>In place even if only for a few months, the price hike could suspend economic growth, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kiplinger.com\/slideshow\/business\/t015-s001-12-ways-5-a-gallon-gasoline-would-change-america\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kiplingers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Traditionally, when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/psaki-on-rising-energy-costs-makes-even-stronger-case-for-doubling-down-on-our-energy-agenda\/\" title=\"Psaki On Rising Energy Costs: Makes \u2018Even Stronger Case For Doubling Down\u2019 On Our Energy Agenda\">gas prices spike<\/a>, demand for commuter service goes up. Of course, elite policy-makers like that, but practicalities intrude \u2014 could current capacity handle it and who wants to risk their life riding increasingly unsafe New York City subway trains?<\/p>\n<p>Also, since so much transit is by bus, how will bus systems handle increased diesel fuel costs?<\/p>\n<p>Another issue is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sen-tim-scott-argues-biden-spending-is-contributing-to-inflation\/\" title=\"Sen. Tim Scott Argues Biden Spending Is Contributing to Inflation\">higher gas prices<\/a> mean less driving and less gasoline purchases, which means less gas tax for road maintenance, according to Kiplingers.<\/p>\n<p>So the lost revenue may be made up by higher car licensing fees or establishment of toll roads<\/p>\n<p>Those were predictions from more than a decade ago.<\/p>\n<p>Other predictions were done in 2008 by <a href=\"https:\/\/retailwire.com\/discussion\/what-if-gas-cost-10-a-gallon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Retail Wire<\/a> regarding gas going to $10 per gallon.<\/p>\n<p>Those forecasts envisioned grounded aircraft, truckers out of business, and closed businesses.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019d be more work-from-home, drastically increased food prices, vegetable gardens, less eating at restaurants, fewer purchases of clothing, and increased use of solar and nuclear power.<\/p>\n<p>Except for a push for more nuclear power, the 2008 Retail Wire predictions have not required $10 gas, but many are coming true, seemingly driven by the 2020 pandemic and policies of the Biden administration.<\/p>\n<p>There is a problem in that Robert F. Kennedy is not an outlier in his desire to get people to make radical lifestyle changes.<\/p>\n<p>He reflects <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/revealed-biden-taken-200-actions-increase-gas-prices-highlight-top-3\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">positions<\/a> taken by many on the left, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/judge-nixes-biden-request-that-would-allow-contact-with-social-media-companies\/\" title=\"Judge denies Biden's request to contact social media companies.\">including key players<\/a> in the Democratic Party.<\/p>\n<p>Some wonder if <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/kennedy-family-put-blast-treating-rfk-jr-mark-totalitarian-systems\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kennedy<\/a>, as an independent, will play the role of spoiler in the 2024 election by siphoning voters from the dominant parties.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats rejected him. That was perhaps unwise, since except for opposing draconian health care, he aligns with many of their values.<\/p>\n<p>But, of course, if you ask some Democrats \u2014 Bernie Sanders supporters, for instance \u2014 or even Trump supporters dealing with lawfare, efforts by Democrats are not focused on an election.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s about selection, some say, and it\u2019s about who puppetmasters running the show really want to select.<\/p>\n<p>Given how Kennedy\u2019s radical position on energy aligns with Democrats\u2019 wishes, I\u2019d say that\u2019s an area in which Biden is the one being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/jen-psaki-admits-rfk-jr-huge-huge-huge-problem-joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">threatened<\/a> by him.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>An Important Message from Our Staff:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>In just a few months, the world is going to change forever.
