President Joe Biden clarified his comments implying that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is extending the Israel-Hamas conflict for political reasons.\u2063 Biden refuted this idea during a White\u200b House event, highlighting Netanyahu&#8217;s focus on addressing crucial matters. His statements came after an interview in Time magazine discussing Biden&#8217;s foreign policy strategies.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_79\">\n<p>President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Joe Biden<\/a> tried to walk back his implication that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/israel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Israeli<\/a> Prime Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/benjamin-netanyahu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Benjamin Netanyahu<\/a> is prolonging the Israel-<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/hamas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Hamas<\/a> war for political reasons as he walked out of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/white-house\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>White House<\/a> event announcing his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/border-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>border<\/a> executive order.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIs Prime Minister Netanyahu playing politics with the war?\u201d one reporter asked Biden Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think so. He\u2019s trying to work out a serious problem he has,\u201d Biden said.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier Tuesday, <em>Time<\/em> published a profile of Biden and a transcript of writer Massimo Calabresi\u2019s interview with him. In the piece, which focused on Biden\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/rss\/foreign-policy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>foreign policy<\/a>, the president first said he would not engage with a question about whether Netanyahu was prolonging the war as he struggles to lead an emergency unity government amid growing discontent from the broader electorate beyond his hard-line base of power.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is every reason for people to draw that conclusion,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Biden<\/a> said when asked whether Netanyahu is prolonging the war for his own political self-preservation after saying he wouldn\u2019t comment. \u201cAnd I would cite that as \u2014 before the war began, the blowback he was getting from the Israeli military for wanting to change the court. And so it\u2019s an internal domestic debate that seems to have no consequence. And whether he would change his position or not, it\u2019s hard to say, but it has not been helpful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the <em>Time<\/em> article, Biden did defend Netanyahu from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/international-criminal-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>International Criminal Court<\/a> after it announced it was seeking indictments for Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/war-crimes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>war crimes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe answer is it\u2019s uncertain and has been investigated by the Israelis themselves,\u201d Biden said. \u201cThe ICC is something that we don\u2019t, we don\u2019t recognize. But one thing is certain, the people in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/gaza\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Gaza<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/palestinians\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Palestinians<\/a>, have suffered greatly for lack of food, water, medicine, etc. And a lot of innocent people have been killed. But it is \u2014 and a lot of it has to do not just with Israelis, but what Hamas is doing in Israel as we speak.
