Despite Russian restrictions, YouTube continues to\u200b operate in the country. Rumble&#8217;s CEO criticized YouTube&#8217;s compliance with Russian censorship rules, highlighting the platform&#8217;s removal of content related to the war in Ukraine. The issue prompted Pavlovski to submit written testimony on foreign censorship to the House \u200cSubcommittee in May.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<figure>                         <\/figure>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The free speech streaming website Rumble was banned in Russia earlier this year over the video platform\u2019s refusal to comply with Kremlin censorship.<\/p>\n<p>Russian internet users were unable to access Rumble beginning in early March after the company dismissed the government\u2019s complaints related to a channel called <a href=\"https:\/\/rumble.com\/c\/ALLATRA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Allatra TV<\/a>. In a message to the streaming website reviewed by The Federalist, Russia demanded the channel\u2019s page be banned because its \u201cactivities are deemed undesirable on the territory of the Russian Federation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The company examined the channel for violations of Rumble\u2019s platform guidelines and determined no independent censorship was warranted. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Russian government demanded that Rumble remove content that didn\u2019t violate our terms of service,\u201d Rumble CEO Chris Pavlovski told The Federalist. \u201cThe Russian request was a direct assault on the universal human right to free expression, so we refused, and they turned off access to Rumble inside Russia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pavlovski noted that while Rumble is banned, Google-owned YouTube still operates in the country despite the presence of the same <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/@allatra_tv\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">channel<\/a> publishing on their service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYouTube still operates in Russia, and the world deserves to know whether they are collaborating with Russia\u2019s censorship regime,\u201d Pavlovski said. <\/p>\n<p>The Federalist reached out to YouTube inquiring what rules from Moscow the streaming giant complied with in order to remain online in Russia. YouTube responded with a series of links to the company\u2019s terms of service and emphasized the platform\u2019s censorship of state-backed news channels amid the ongoing war in Ukraine. The company said more than 12,000 channels and more than 140,000 videos related to the conflict have been removed since February 2022. <\/p>\n<p>Pavlovski submitted <a href=\"https:\/\/chrissmith.house.gov\/uploadedfiles\/2024-05-07-_written_testimony_of_chris_pavlovski.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">written<\/a> testimony on foreign censorship to the House Subcommittee on Global Health, Global Human Rights and International Organizations in May.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the first instances of government censorship we experienced did not come as a surprise, as it came from communist China,\u201d Pavlovski explained. \u201cCommunist governments often crack down on a variety of freedoms, including freedom of expression.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pavlovski went on to outline how Western governments have increasingly embraced communist-style censorship regimes with aggressive demands that private companies suppress dissident speech.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople can certainly question the trustworthiness of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/talent-on-loan-from-god-what-people-still-dont-understand-about-rush-limbaugh\/\" title=\"\u2018Talent On Loan From God\u2019: What People Still Don\u2019t Understand About Rush Limbaugh\">news sources<\/a>,\u201d Pavlovski wrote, \u201cbut it should not be any government\u2019s job to selectively eliminate access to information.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the United States, the Biden administration is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/rapper-travis-scott-facing-multiple-lawsuits-over-astroworld-festival-carnage\/\" title=\"Rapper Travis Scott Facing Multiple Lawsuits Over Astroworld Festival Carnage\">facing multiple lawsuits<\/a> over the federal government\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hawley-blasts-dhs-propaganda-grant-to-counter-conservatives\/\" title=\"Hawley criticizes DHS grant for countering conservatives\">dystopian censorship programs<\/a> that are facilitating a 21st-century crackdown on free expression.<\/p>\n<p>In March, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in the landmark speech lawsuit <em><a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/03\/15\/free-speech-depends-on-scotus-rejecting-the-governments-censorship-excuses-in-murthy-v-missouri\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Murthy v. Missouri<\/a>,<\/em> wherein states are suing to dismantle the federal government\u2019s censorship industrial complex. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hollywood-celebs-rage-in-defeat-after-barrett-confirmation-revolting-disgraceful-unconscionable\/\" title=\"Hollywood Celebs Rage in Defeat After Barrett Confirmation: 'Revolting.
