They claim his addiction led to\u200b <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/tom-cotton-presses-bidens-atf-nominee-over-prosecuting-hunter-for-lying-on-background-check-to-purchase-firearm\/\" title=\"Tom Cotton Presses Biden\u2019s ATF Nominee Over Prosecuting Hunter For Lying On Background Check To Purchase Firearm\">falsifying information<\/a> on a\u2062 federal form. \u2064Hunter Biden&#8217;s defense, led by \u2063Abbe Lowell, will aim to refute the allegations.\u200b The\u200b prosecution plans \u2063to use evidence from Biden&#8217;s memoir and digital files in the trial.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Federal prosecutors will begin making the case to a jury in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/delaware\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Delaware\">Delaware<\/a> on Tuesday that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/hunter-biden\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Delaware\">Hunter Biden<\/a> allegedly lied about his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/drugs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"drug\">drug<\/a> use to purchase a gun in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>They are set to argue as part of their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pennsylvania-state-senate-plans-meeting-to-air-complaints-of-voter-fraud\/\" title=\"Pennsylvania State Senate Plans Meeting to Air Complaints of Voter Fraud\">opening statement<\/a> that Biden was a compulsive addict when he allegedly falsely checked off on a federal form that he was not an \u201cunlawful user\u201d of any controlled substance.<\/p>\n<p>The falsification, according to the government, allowed Biden to purchase a revolver from StarQuest Shooters &#038; Survival Supply in Wilmington and retain the gun for 11 days.<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s defense team, led by prominent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/washington-dc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Washington, D.C.\">Washington, D.C.<\/a>-based attorney Abbe Lowell, will then have a chance to deliver its own opening statement. His attorneys are expected to attempt to poke holes in the government\u2019s charges and argue that the evidence is flawed.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors, through court filings, have indicated they will highlight portions from Biden\u2019s memoir <em>Beautiful Things<\/em>, in which the first son wrote about how he had a desperate crack addiction around the same time frame as the gun purchase.<\/p>\n<p>They also plan to introduce messages and photos from Biden\u2019s computer data, which have been a source of salacious headlines for years. After opening statements, the government\u2019s first witness, it said, would be FBI agent Erika Jensen, who will confirm parts of the memoir and text messages.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was sleeping on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/son-of-a-gun-hunter-biden-to-fight-felony-firearm-charges-in-delaware-trial\/\" title=\"Hunter Biden is set to battle felony firearm charges in Delaware trial\">car smoking crack<\/a> on 4th Street and Rodney,\u201d Biden wrote in one such message on Oct. 14, 2018, two days after the gun purchase.<\/p>\n<p>Biden, for his part, has indicated in court filings that he plans to dispute technicalities of his drug use, such as the definition of \u201cuser of controlled substances.\u201d He also has signaled that he plans to raise authenticity questions about the computer data.<\/p>\n<p>His defense attorneys are also expected to question the credibility of the gun form because prosecutors will be using as evidence a second version of the form with additional address information on it, rather than the original form.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Maryellen Noreika, a Donald Trump appointee, dealt a blow to Biden at the start of the trial by prohibiting him from introducing the original version of the form as evidence. Still, Biden could raise the argument through questions to the government\u2019s witnesses, such as the employees of the gun store.<\/p>\n<p>Opening arguments follow a quick one-day jury selection on Monday. Twelve jurors and four alternates were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/3026556\/hunter-biden-jury-selection-complete\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>chosen<\/a> from an initial pool of roughly 250 people.
