Some attribute these views to President Biden&#8217;s leadership \u2063and the lasting impact of COVID-19. Evan Roth Smith, the head pollster of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-poll-majority-of-americans-less-likely-to-support-disney-over-woke-politics-firing-of-gina-carano\/\" title=\"EXCLUSIVE POLL: Majority Of Americans Less Likely To Support Disney Over Woke Politics, Firing Of Gina Carano\">recent survey conducted<\/a> by Blueprint, said, \u201cThey see a dying empire led by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ariz-prison-escapees-recaptured-after-manhunt\/\" title=\"Ariz. prison escapees recaptured after manhunt\">bad people<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More specifically, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.semafor.com\/article\/05\/28\/2024\/a-dying-empire-led-by-bad-people-poll-finds-young-voters-despairing-over-us-politics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the survey<\/a> revealed, \u201cYoung voters do not look at our politics and see any good guys,\u201d and 54 percent of the respondents believe America is going \u201cdownhill.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Further statistics from the poll, which surveyed almost 1,000 18-30-year-old registered voters, showed a \u201csour mood\u201d toward the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/interview-dr-ben-carson-talks-radical-lefts-war-american-family-vp-rumors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">American political system<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As the results demonstrated, \u201c49 percent agreed to some extent that elections in the country don\u2019t represent people like them; 51 percent agreed to some extent that the political system in the U.S. \u2018doesn\u2019t work for people like me\u2019; and 64 percent backed the statement that \u2018America is in decline.\u2019 A whopping 65 percent agreed either strongly or somewhat that \u2018nearly all politicians are corrupt, and make money from their political power\u2019 \u2014 only 7 percent disagreed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The results indicated that, in part, these opinions stemmed from a negative outlook of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/newly-released-text-messages-dont-look-good-hunter-joe-biden-great-exhibit-nonsense-lies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">President Joe Biden\u2019s leadership<\/a>, as well as \u201clasting\u201d effects from the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the latter point, \u201c77 percent said that the event changed the country for the worse, and 45 percent said they feel less connected to friends and acquaintances compared with five years ago,\u201d Semafor\u2019s Shelby Talcott reported.<\/p>\n<p>When analyzing the findings, Smith believes the first step moving forward \u201cis more fully admitting that people are hurting \u2026 particularly around the economy [and] inflation.\u201d Talcott agreed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBroadly speaking, Blueprint\u2019s polling reveals young voters in America are not doing OK. But the pessimism about the country, its leaders, and more is also a concerning trend for Biden \u2014 whether he\u2019s directly responsible for why voters feel the way they do or not, he\u2019s currently in office during a time when many seem to be,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>However, Joseph Backholm, Family Research Council\u2019s senior fellow for Strategic Engagement and Biblical Worldview, shared with The Washington Stand there are deeper ways to interpret the results of the poll.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Is there no hope for America?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>For instance, he said, \u201cOne challenge of living in an information age is that people are aware of problems that have nothing to do with them. Many people live wonderful, comfortable lives but take up grievances vicariously.\u201d As a result, Backholm emphasized, some of what is seen in the poll \u201cis perception rather than reality.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Backholm explained how \u201cyoung people have long been rebelling against their parent\u2019s generation. They see, often correctly, things that need to be different and try to do something different.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, he noted, \u201cThe risk is throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Change is only good if it\u2019s change in the right direction,\u201d which also makes it \u201cimportant to have a point of reference that doesn\u2019t change.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, \u201cGod defines goodness, and if our change is in that direction, it will\u201d be a good change, Backholm said. \u201cBut if our idea of change is to create a world in which more people follow their heart, that will just lead to more pain.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/revealed-growing-number-young-people-now-identify-gender-season\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">young people<\/a> who think the world is changing for the worse, Backholm said, \u201cWe know change will happen because it\u2019s inevitable. Whether that is good or not depends on what the motivation and goal for the change is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Backholm gave advice for how Christians, in particular, can respond to the pessimism revealed in the survey: \u201cThe best thing Christians can do in this situation is communicate hope that transcends circumstances. The gospel is not for a certain group of people, in a certain nation, under a specific set of circumstances. It\u2019s for everyone, in all places, at all times.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/op-ed-bible-foundation-debate-even-unbelievers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">believers<\/a>, he said, \u201cwe should <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/arkansas-womens-shelter-will-host-family-friendly-drag-queen-show-with-headliner-crystal-methyd\/\" title=\"Arkansas Women\u2019s Shelter Will Host \u2018Family-Friendly\u2019 Drag Queen Show With Headliner \u2018Crystal Methyd\u2019\">live lives<\/a> that are concerned about the decisions we make because ideas have consequences, but also lives that are unmoved by the circumstances of life because our hope transcends the circumstances.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As Backholm pointed out, \u201cIf our joy depends on cultural or political developments, we\u2019ll never have joy,\u201d as evidenced by the poll.
