Douglas Golden<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span> \u00a0June 3, 2024 at 5:43am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>Hell hath no fury like a liberal reminded of the blatantly obvious.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, former President Donald Trump was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/breaking-crucial-verdict-reached-trumps-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">convicted<\/a> of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in the so-called hush money case in New York City.<\/p>\n<p>While the case was brought by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, President Joe Biden and his administration never discouraged the Democrat from bringing the dubious charges, nor did they shy away from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-campaigns-courthouse-publicity-stunt-devolves-humiliating-circus-spectacle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">taking political advantage<\/a> of them. One of his former Department of Justice officials even spearheaded the prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>But mention that Biden\u2019s fingerprints are all over this one, if not perhaps in\u00a0<em>directly<\/em> prosecuting his primary political opposition, and watch former Bill Clinton press secretary and current ABC News apparatchik <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/stephanopoulos-says-right-psaki-majority-americans-question-presidents-mental-capacity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">George Stephanopoulos<\/a> have a meltdown.<\/p>\n<p>The meltdown came during Trump attorney Will Scharf\u2019s appearance on Sunday\u2019s edition of \u201cThis Week,\u201d where Scharf noted that the Stormy Daniels \u201chush money\u201d matter was \u201ccalled the zombie case\u201d before Trump was charged with it last year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt sat and sat and sat. It could have been brought at any point after 2020,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/doj-try-bribe-trump-aides-lawyer-cooperate-prosecutors-45\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scharf<\/a> said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd then suddenly, when President Trump announced his campaign for president, it was dusted off, rushed in front of a grand jury and then rushed into court,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou want to talk about the politicization of the legal system, I mean this is Exhibit A,\u201d the Trump attorney said. \u201cIt\u2019s absolutely unprecedented in American history. It\u2019s not the way that our campaigns are supposed to be run. We contest elections at the ballot box, not in the courts in this country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Stephanopoulos noted that this was \u201ctrue\u201d but said that America has never \u201chad a former president or presidential candidate facing the kind of charges that the president faced because of his own activities. And, of course, the attorney general in Manhattan has nothing to do with the Department of Justice.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Did President Joe Biden&#8217;s administration influence the Trump trial?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI vehemently disagree that the district attorney in New York was not politically motivated here, and I vehemently disagree that President Biden and his political allies aren\u2019t up their necks in this prosecution,\u201d Scharf said. \u201cI think the fact that the Biden campaign\u00a0\u2013\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Aaand meltdown in three, two, one\u00a0\u2026<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s no evidence here of that, sir!\u201d Stephanopoulos said. \u201cThere\u2019s no \u2014 there\u2019s not \u2014 I\u2019m not going to let you continue to say that. There\u2019s just zero evidence of that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>I mean, except for the evidence of that, which Scharf laid out when he could get a word in edgewise.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, how about the fact that Matthew Colangelo was standing \u2014 was standing over Alvin Bragg\u2019s shoulder when he announced this verdict?\u201d Scharf said, referring to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/alvin-braggs-top-trump-prosecutor-comes-official-investigation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">former DOJ official<\/a> hired by Bragg\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, Colangelo was the No. 3 official in the Biden Department of Justice who suddenly disappears and shows up as an assistant district attorney, right as Trump\u2019s case in New York starts to proceed. You want to talk about political\u00a0\u2013\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter the decision was made there \u2013,\u201d Stephanopoulos said, continuing to interrupt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou want to talk about political coordination, George, it\u2019s right there in front of you,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/avenatti-says-contact-trump-legal-defense-team-ready-willing-testify\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Scharf<\/a> said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis has nothing to do \u2014 this has nothing to do \u2014 no, it\u2019s not. This has nothing to do with President Biden,\u201d Stephanopoulos, a bit discomposed, said. \u201cDo you want to answer the question about the sentencing process or not?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI completely disagree that this has nothing to do with President Biden,\u201d the Trump attorney said, adding, \u201cWith respect to sentencing, as I said before, we\u2019re going to vigorously challenge this case on appeal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"'It would have been dangerous\u2019 for Trump to take the stand in Manhattan trial: Scharf\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Lz_7lFVe5qc?start=423&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t let \u2019em see you sweat, George.<\/p>\n<p>Now, let\u2019s point out that the involvement of Colangelo alone would be enough to throw this into question.<\/p>\n<p>The fact that one of the top officials at the DOJ \u2014 who was previously paid for political consulting by the Democratic National Committee in 2018, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/ex-top-biden-doj-official-prosecuting-trump-once-paid-by-dnc-political-consulting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox News<\/a> noted \u2014 would join Bragg\u2019s team and help lead the prosecution of Trump is beyond unseemly.<\/p>\n<p>The fact he was standing behind Bragg during the news conference in which the Manhattan DA gloated about the verdict wasn\u2019t a good look, either:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">There he is, Matthew Colangelo, former DNC political consultant for who left his job as third-ranking official in Biden\u2019s DOJ in December 2022 to take a lesser job in Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg\u2019s office as senior counsel in the criminal case against Trump. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/n0A2y5XeWz\">https:\/\/t.co\/n0A2y5XeWz<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/74dOZY1c4Q\">pic.twitter.com\/74dOZY1c4Q<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Miranda Devine (@mirandadevine) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/mirandadevine\/status\/1796317307351749108?\">May 30, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>This, unsurprisingly, wasn\u2019t the only thing that looked problematic, however.<\/p>\n<p>If there\u2019s \u201cno evidence\u201d that the Biden administration was at least cheering on a politicized prosecution brought by a rising Democrat, for instance, why did the administration hold a news conference outside the Manhattan courthouse while the trial was going on \u2014 bringing out Robert De Niro as a rather ludicrous surrogate for the occasion?<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Pure desperation. Robert De Niro in an N95.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/6ZIYhjisZ0\">pic.twitter.com\/6ZIYhjisZ0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 End Wokeness (@EndWokeness) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EndWokeness\/status\/1795464744049987766?\">May 28, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>And no less than the president of the United States \u2014 the same one who\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-begs-americans-respect-justice-system-days-bragging-skirting-scotus-ruling\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bragged about circumventing Supreme Court decisions<\/a> and who has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-just-threaten-scotus-justices-attendance-called-sotu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">chastised the high court<\/a> during his State of the Union speeches for daring to hand down decisions with which he disagreed \u2014 insisted that the American people and Trump\u2019s campaign must respect the jury\u2019s verdict.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s reckless, it\u2019s dangerous, it\u2019s irresponsible for anyone to say this was rigged just because they don\u2019t like the verdict,\u201d Biden said during Friday remarks at the White House.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur justice system has endured for nearly 250 years, and it literally is the cornerstone of America,\u201d he added. \u201cThe justice system should be respected. And we should never allow anyone to tear it down.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But, please, don\u2019t talk about the Biden administration improperly using the trial as a political tool, or else you\u2019ll make <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/george-stephanopoulos-cant-sugarcoat-new-poll-numbers-brutal-president-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">George Stephanopoulos<\/a> freak out.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>\u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d Those 12 words have been stuck in my head since I first read them.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Former Lt.
