Hakeem Jeffries, a New York Democrat, appeared on NBC\u2019s \u201cMeet the Press\u201d to discuss the obvious issues of the day.<\/p>\n<p>First and foremost, obviously, was former President Donald Trump\u2019s conviction on 34 counts in a kangaroo court in Jeffries\u2019 home turf of New York City.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/exclusive-mccarthy-says-ukraine-wont-distract-congress-from-americas-problems\/\" title=\"EXCLUSIVE: McCarthy Says Ukraine Won\u2019t Distract Congress From America\u2019s Problems\">minority leader made<\/a> it clear where he stood while continuing to contend, against all reliable evidence, that President Joe Biden had made real gains for the American people in his three-and<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ex-trump-aide-paul-manafort-cant-be-prosecuted-in-new-york-following-pardon-court-rules\/\" title=\"Ex-Trump Aide Paul Manafort Can\u2019t Be Prosecuted in New York Following Pardon, Court Rules\">-a-half years<\/a> in office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cExtreme MAGA Republicans are going to continue to lie for Donald Trump. President Biden and Democrats are going to continue to solve problems for hard-working American taxpayers,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/hakeem-jeffries-goes-off-deep-end-mike-johnson-elected-speaker-compares-jan-6-pearl-harbor-9-11\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jeffries<\/a> claimed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cExtreme MAGA Republicans will continue to lie for Donald Trump,\u201d he said again.<\/p>\n<p>What those lies are went unnamed, but one can assume that they had to do with pointing out just how kangaroo the court in New York City <em>was<\/em>, given the question being asked.<\/p>\n<p>All right, then, Rep. Jeffries: What about Hunter Biden? Do you think it was proper for the president to say, last year, that the first son \u201chas done nothing wrong\u201d <em>before<\/em> he was indicted on numerous federal violations?<\/p>\n<p>Of course it was, he said.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Does the media have double standards for Democrats and Republicans?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Answering a question regarding a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/my-son-has-done-nothing-wrong-hunter-joe-biden-justice-department-indictment-5b0df0d8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wall Street Journal editorial<\/a> that called out the president\u2019s remarks before Hunter Biden\u2019s gun charges go to trial this coming week, Jeffries told host Peter Alexander that \u201cPresident Biden commented as a loving father, as I would hope any loving father would do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHunter Biden of course is entitled, as was Donald Trump, to the presumption of innocence and to a trial by a jury of his peers,\u201d the congressman said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd this Justice Department is going to proceed in that fashion, present the facts and the law. And then we\u2019ll all have to wait for a determination that is made by a jury as to Hunter Biden\u2019s guilt or innocence,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-A10qa-Dex0?si=X_8ARzYWt0mtcRTm&#038;start=1374\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Now, firstly, I think we should be clear on the timeline of this, because Jeffries was being a bit disingenuous here and Alexander wasn\u2019t willing to call him out on it.<\/p>\n<p>In May 2023, during an interview with MSNBC\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/msnbc-anchor-stephanie-ruhle-cheerfully-says-time-recession\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stephanie Ruhle<\/a>, Biden insisted that his son was innocent of pretty much anything under the sun.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst of all, my son has done nothing wrong,\u201d the president said. \u201cI trust him. I have faith in him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden said the only effect was \u201cmaking me feel proud of him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> <iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fPDRO2LSvu4?si=5F-npYipa3L2t-Ba&#038;start=774\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This is <em>before<\/em> Hunter was given a sweetheart deal by his father\u2019s Department of Justice that collapsed in court after a judge rejected it as unprecedented and potentially unconstitutional.<\/p>\n<p>It was also before, due to an impasse created by the rejection of the plea deal, the attorney general was forced to announce an independent special counsel who went on to indict Hunter on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/judge-demands-explanation-hunter-biden-attempts-avoid-appearing-court-gun-charges-arraignment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gun charges in September<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/not-just-hunter-ashley-biden-tax-problems-documents-show\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tax charges in December<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, Biden wasn\u2019t just acting as a loving father. He was acting as the sitting president and a recently declared candidate for re-election stating that his son was clean at a whistle, legally speaking, at the same time he knew that son was being investigated by the federal government for behavior that, at the very least, was ethically indefensible.<\/p>\n<p>Hunter Biden is \u201centitled \u2026 to the presumption of innocence and to a trial by a jury of his peers,\u201d of course.<\/p>\n<p>However, what the first son isn\u2019t entitled to is the president using his office to dissuade charges from being filed against him. That\u2019s exactly what Joe Biden did \u2014 and it wasn\u2019t an act of love, or at least <em>primarily<\/em> an act of love. It was\u00a0an act of hide-saving.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, what we knew about Hunter Biden didn\u2019t materially change over the course of 2023. We knew that the first son had probably lied on a federal gun form that required him to list if he was an abuser of or an addict to any illegal or controlled substances; Hunter had more or less admitted that he was during the time that the gun was purchased in his autobiography \u201cBeautiful Things.\u201d We knew about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/mike-huckabee-surprise-surprise-whistleblower-reveals-preferential-treatment-hunter-biden-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">his tax problems<\/a>, too.<\/p>\n<p>Nor was this merely about saving Hunter, as the media has reported; his son\u2019s legal woes apparently have had quite a psychological toll on the president, as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe worries about Hunter every single day, from the moment he wakes up to the moment he goes to sleep. That will only pick up during a trial,\u201d an adviser told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2024\/05\/15\/hunter-biden-trial-psychological-torment-00158028\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Politico<\/a> last month.<\/p>\n<p>So, the president essentially putting his rhetorical thumb on the scales of justice isn\u2019t an outrage, but \u201cextreme MAGA Republicans [who] are going to continue to lie for Donald Trump\u201d are, as Jeffries said in this postverdict interview.<\/p>\n<p>Imagine, for a second, if Hakeem Jeffries were a Republican and the president were still Donald Trump. He would be eaten alive by the media.<\/p>\n<p>Here, Alexander didn\u2019t even bother asking a follow-up question. He let this stand as if there were no issue whatsoever.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s yet another object lesson in why, if it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/media-double-standard-jim-acosta-appears-admit-cnn-will-give-biden-different-treatment-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">weren\u2019t for double standards<\/a>, the establishment media wouldn\u2019t have any standards at all.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>An Important Message from Our Staff:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>In just a few months, the world is going to change forever.
