Michael Miller said two of the 24 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/tennessee-neighborhood-party-shattered-gunshots-multiple-dead-wounded\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wounded victims<\/a> were in critical condition, but none of the other wounded victims suffered life-threatening injuries, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/akron-ohio-fatal-shooting-d4e59d1c66e00f6ed1c3c76c80e11edd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>No arrests have been made. Police initially reported 27 people were shot.<\/p>\n<p>The man who died was 27, police said. Victims were sent to multiple hospitals.<\/p>\n<p>Police recovered a gun and a few dozen shell casings after the shooting, which took place shortly after midnight, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/fox8.com\/news\/i-team\/police-27-people-shot-in-akron-1-man-killed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WJW-TV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cleveland19.com\/2024\/06\/02\/27-people-shot-akron-1-man-killed-multiple-victims-hospitalized\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WOIO-TV<\/a> said the shootings took place at a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/d-c-mayor-defends-herself-after-blatantly-ignoring-own-mask-mandate\/\" title=\"D.C. Mayor Defends Herself After Blatantly Ignoring Own Mask Mandate\">large birthday party<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe just heard like fireworks. I thought it was the Fourth of July, Then I seen cars and I seen everybody running. I was petrified. Petrified. I was scared for my life. I got kids. What if that would have been me?\u201d witness Jehovah Jones told the outlet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re outside, enjoying ourselves, and the next thing you know, we\u2019re running for our lives. That fast. A lot of people out there but there wasn\u2019t no drama, no commotion, no fighting. Nothing. I don\u2019t know why,\u201d witness Joyoux Payne said.<\/p>\n<p>Payne added: \u201cWe were all just out here having fun, we\u2019re all dancin\u2019 everybody listening to music and next thing you know, the gunshots went off as we\u2019re all dancing, As we\u2019re all enjoying ourselves, there\u2019s bullets are ringing out. How? Why? That fast.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Is violent crime on the rise in America?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ap-tragedy-epic-proportions-2-dead-14-wounded-shooting-backyard-party\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">party<\/a> eventually spilled into the street, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news5cleveland.com\/news\/local-news\/dozens-hurt-1-killed-in-overnight-akron-shooting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WEWS-TV<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Twenty-seven (yes 27) people shot just after midnight at one location on Kelly Avenue near 8th in Akron. Akron police say of those 27 one is dead. They have no suspect info and are asking for tips. I\u2019ve been working the scene since 1am. It looked like a scene from a spring break movie. It looked like everyone was having a good time. On our way back it was a completely different scene,\u201d the station quoted a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/just-houston-texans-star-injured-shooting-forcing-team-break-bad-news\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">witness<\/a> it did not name as saying.<\/p>\n<p>Akron Mayor Shammas Malik and Akron Police Chief Brian Harding released a joint statement, according to WOIO.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis morning, our city is reeling after the devastation of senseless violence.
