Emmanuel<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   June 2, 2024 at 1:49pm <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>Former President Donald Trump is confronting the possibility of jail time or house arrest after being convicted last week on 34 felony counts related to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/supreme-court-rejects-trump-bid-to-shield-financial-records\/\" title=\"Supreme Court Rejects Trump Bid To Shield Financial Records\">hush money payments made<\/a> during his 2016 presidential campaign.<\/p>\n<p>But the former president seemed incredibly calm and unbothered during an interview that aired Sunday on Fox News\u2019 \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/trump-slams-conviction-ny-scam-trial-my-revenge-success\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox and Friends Weekend<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump\u2019s sentencing is scheduled for July 11, just four days before the Republican National Convention, where he is expected to officially accept the GOP\u2019s 2024 presidential nomination, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2024\/06\/02\/trump-jail-house-arrest-fox-interview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to Axios<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While the charges carry a maximum of four years in prison on each count, some legal experts say Trump may not see the inside of a cell given that low-level felonies like the ones Trump is convicted of almost never result in jail time, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/trump-going-jail-time-ny-indictment-slim-odds-2023-3#:~:text=Ex%2Dpresident's%20odds%20of%20lockup,to%20none%2C%20legal%20experts%20say&#038;text=Trump's%20odds%20of%20going%20to,defense%20attorney%20told%20Business%20Insider.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Business Insider<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Judges can impose a huge fine or community service instead.<\/p>\n<p>Defense attorney and former Brooklyn prosecutor Arthur Aidala told Business Insider that he does not see a \u201cscenario where Donald Trump spends one minute in jail.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Still, taking into account the history of clear bias and political agenda displayed by Manhattan DA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/alvin-braggs-team-begs-judge-pile-even-punishment-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alvin Bragg<\/a> and Judge <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/judge-juan-merchan-hit-official-ethics-complaint-accused-judicial-misconduct\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Juan Merchan<\/a>, nothing is off the table.<\/p>\n<p>In a commentary piece published by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/04\/18\/opinion\/donald-trump-trial-prison.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The New York Times<\/a> in April, Norman L. Eisen, the author of \u201cTrying Trump: A Guide to His First Election Interference Criminal Trial,\u201d opined that the judge could justify jail time by taking into account that Trump has not shown remorse and also the number of times he violated Merchan\u2019s gag orders.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Are you voting for Trump?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>However, Trump seemed resigned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m OK with it,\u201d he told Fox host Pete Hegseth when questioned about the possibility of house arrest or jail time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust the way it is,\u201d he said, telling the Fox News hosts that he has instructed his lawyers, \u201cYou don\u2019t beg for anything.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">JUST IN: Donald Trump says he is prepared to go to jail, says he\u2019s not going to beg the judge to keep him out.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m okay with [going to jail].\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI saw one of my lawyers the other day on television saying: \u2018Oh no, you don\u2019t want to do that to the president.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI said, don\u2019t,\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ZFzp5JEYhz\">pic.twitter.com\/ZFzp5JEYhz<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Collin Rugg (@CollinRugg) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CollinRugg\/status\/1797276557607891336?\">June 2, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He did warn, however, that seeing him go to jail could be \u201ctough for the public to take.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know, at a certain point, there\u2019s a breaking point,\u201d he said.;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Trump on possible house arrest or jail time: I\u2019m not sure that the public would stand for it. I think it would be tough for the public to take. The decision on whether to allow Trump to remain free pending appeal will be up to the judge, Juan Merchan.<\/p>\n<p>Trump was right about one thing: Watching him calmly accept that if the lawfare attack on him leads to jail time, he\u2019ll be \u201cOK with it,\u201d is hard for his supporters to take.<\/p>\n<p>There is a breaking point, and many of us are rapidly reaching it.<\/p>\n<p>We have watched Jan. 6 protesters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/ex-fbi-agent-drops-bomb-jan-6-film-fbi-execs-get-paid-arrest-terrorists-set\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">treated like terrorists<\/a> while far more violent and destructive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/biden-says-isnt-soft-rioters-pick-vp-helped-bail-many\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">George Floyd protesters glorified<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We have watched parents concerned about their daughters being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/loudoun-county-dad-says-daughter-raped-boy-girls-bathroom-school-tried-cover\/\">raped by boys<\/a> in girls\u2019 bathrooms being dragged off screaming and transgender activists<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/transgender-wh-pride-event-shows-far-society-fallen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> flashing fake breasts<\/a> on the White House lawn. We have seen the Clinton Foundation make millions promising to rebuild Haiti, only to see it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/millionaire-hillary-clinton-gets-blasted-twitter-making-shady-monetary-request\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">devolve into chaos<\/a>, and there has been no accountability, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/clintons-led-haitis-post-earthquake-rebuild-supporters-call-them-lifesavers-critics-allege-dirty-deals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to Fox News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And when Hillary Clinton and the Democratic National Committee paid for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fbi-doj-knew-clintons-funded-anti-trump-russia-dossier-hid-fisa-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fake Russian dossier<\/a> against Trump and labeled it \u201clegal fees\u201d \u2014 the kind of behavior Trump was accused of \u2014 they were allowed to settle the case for a measly $113,000, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/russia-ukraine-2022-midterm-elections-business-elections-presidential-elections-5468774d18e8c46f81b55e9260b13e93\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Trump is right \u2014 there is a breaking point.<\/p>\n<p>But it\u2019s not just Trump supporters who are breaking under the weight of injustice \u2014 it\u2019s our democratic Republic.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>I heard a chilling comment the other day: \u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>That wasn\u2019t said by a conspiracy theorist or a doomsday prophet.
