Footage of the incident has gone viral and drawn a great deal of controversy.<\/p>\n<p>A review of the away-from-the-ball common foul led to it being elevated to a flagrant 1 violation, the league <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/wnba\/story\/_\/id\/40256748\/caitlin-clark-fever-edge-angel-reese-sky-first-home-win\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told ESPN<\/a> on Sunday, though Carter will not be fined or suspended for the infraction. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wnba.com\/archive\/wnba\/analysis\/rule_twelve.html#sectionXI\">According<\/a> to WNBA rules, a flagrant 1 is assessed \u201cif contact committed against a player, with or without the ball, is interpreted to be unnecessary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Carter knocked Clark, who was the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/wnba-draft-2024-caitlin-clark-6aa5dddaedbe7da5a2b147da6d39e832\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">No. 1 pick<\/a> in the WNBA draft this year, to the floor in the third quarter. It\u2019s a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/how-conservative-gamers-could-lose-it-all\/\" title=\"Conservative gamers risk losing everything.\">physical game<\/a>,\u201d Clark <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=hBQNdunwMbc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>. The point guard added later that she is \u201cat the\u00a0point where you accept it and don\u2019t retaliate \u2026\u00a0I\u2019m trying not to let it bother me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sides noted that the Fever would be \u201csending\u201d plays, including the shove, to the league for review and praised Clark for how she had responded to \u201cgetting hammered the way she does and to not get rewarded with free throws or, you know, just the foul calls.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The coach added, \u201cShe\u2019s continued to fight through that. Appreciate that from her.
