That means no NBA games for a week \u2014 a stark contrast to the beginning of the playoffs, where there were multiple games on a day.<\/p>\n<p>While there are no NBA games, there are WNBA games, however \u2014 including some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-caitlin-clark-hit-violent-cheap-shot-angel-reese-appears-celebrate\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">chippy ones<\/a> \u2014 to fill the void, if you\u2019re truly hankering for some of Dr. James Naismith\u2019s greatest creation.<\/p>\n<p>One would think that sports apparel conglomerate Nike would know about those WNBA games, given the sizable investment the company has made into various <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/costco-cfo-provides-huge-update-future-1-50-hot-dog-combo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">star players<\/a> with shoe deals.<\/p>\n<p>One would think wrong.<\/p>\n<p>Nike took to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-new-acting-attorney-general-jeff-rosen-recently-wrote-an-essay-on-foreign-influence-in-us-elections-this-tells-us-a-little-about-his-knowledge-of-whats-going-on-today\/\" title=\"The New Acting Attorney General Jeff Rosen Recently Wrote an Essay on Foreign Influence in US Elections \u2013 This Tells Us A Little About His Knowledge of What\u2019s Going On Today\">social media platform<\/a> X to post: \u201cAnd that\u2019s that \u2026 a week without hoops [shaking my head]\u201d along with an upside-down smiling face emoji after the Mavericks eliminated the Minnesota Timberwolves Thursday.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Have you watched any WNBA games this season?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>(The NBA Finals begin next Thursday, June 6.)<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps realizing the inadvertent \u2014 but still vicious \u2014 shot that Nike just took at the WNBA, the post was swiftly deleted.<\/p>\n<p>Much to the chagrin of Nike, however, the internet has a curious propensity of screen capturing everything.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Nike posted this in the middle of the WNBA season\ud83d\ude2d <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/6OCRjAh2q4\">pic.twitter.com\/6OCRjAh2q4<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Hoops (@HoopMixOnly) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HoopMixOnly\/status\/1796524869842325979?\">May 31, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cNike posted this in the middle of the WNBA season,\u201d a popular basketball content creator posted to X, alongside a screen shot of the now-deleted post.<\/p>\n<p>Another X user pointed out the absurdity of how close the \u201ca week without hoops\u201d post was to a different X post celebrating the launch of New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu\u2019s new shoes.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Literally two posts apart lol<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/WNBA?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#WNBA<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/XGYnGcN5V7\">pic.twitter.com\/XGYnGcN5V7<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Geoff Magliocchetti (@GeoffJMags) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GeoffJMags\/status\/1796387878161014908?\">May 31, 2024<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The errant post is a particularly egregious error for Nike, given the historic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/caitlin-clark-lands-historic-nike-shoe-deal-worth-millions-just-rookie-season-kicks-off\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$28 million shoe deal<\/a> the company signed with Indiana Fever superstar rookie Caitlin Clark<\/p>\n<p>For Nike, this blunder, while likely small in the grand scheme of things, doesn\u2019t help fight back against the stigma that the WNBA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/caitlin-clark-lands-historic-nike-shoe-deal-worth-millions-just-rookie-season-kicks-off\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">is irrelevant<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The league is as popular as it has ever been, due in no small part to an influx of bona fide rookie collegiate women\u2019s stars like Clark, former LSU standout Angel Reese and ex-Stanford star Cameron Brink.<\/p>\n<p>And yet, even Nike saw fit to crack a joke about how there are no \u201choops\u201d going on \u2014 right in the middle of the WNBA season. Accidental or not, it\u2019s not the best look for a company that needs all the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/mlb-change-uniforms-weeks-uproar-entirely-nike-issue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">positive PR<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/nike-fire-outrageous-womens-us-olympics-uniforms-unveiled\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">it can get<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<div>\n<p><b><i>A Note from Our Deputy Managing Editor:<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p><i><span>I heard a chilling comment the other day: \u201cWe don\u2019t even know if an election will be held in 2024.\u201d <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span>That wasn\u2019t said by a conspiracy theorist or a doomsday prophet.
