Upper III<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   June 1, 2024 at 11:05am <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>We all scream for ice cream \u2014 especially if it contains metal contamination that could cause \u201cadverse health consequences.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the Food and Drug Administration, some ice cream sold in Texas may cause problems for just that reason.<\/p>\n<p>Two ice cream products that had previously been recalled in April have now been reclassified by the FDA as a Class II risk, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/ice-cream-recall-update-fda-concern-level-1907082\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Newsweek<\/a> reported Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The products, produced by H-E-B out of San Antonio, are the 3-ounce Creamy Creations Chocolate Ice Cream 12-pack and the 3-ounce Creamy Creations Ice Cream Lime\/Orange Combo 12-pack.<\/p>\n<p>Both products, along with a third \u2014 the 3-ounce H-E-B Creamy Creations Ice Cream Homemade\/Chocolate Combo 12 pack \u2014 were originally recalled by the company on April 27.<\/p>\n<p>Newsweek said it had reached out to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fda-says-bird-flu-virus-found-milk-grocery-store-shelves\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FDA<\/a> for an explanation as to why not all the products involved in the original recall had been upgraded to the Class II level.<\/p>\n<p>When the recall notice was first published, no classification was given for it.<\/p>\n<p>A Class I recall indicates that \u201cthere is a reasonable probability that the use of, or exposure to, a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death,\u201d the FDA explains on its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/medical-devices\/postmarket-requirements-devices\/recalls-corrections-and-removals-devices\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The least serious classification is Class III, which means the product recalled is unlikely to impact a consumer\u2019s health.<\/p>\n<div id=\"firefly-poll-container\">\n<p>Have you ever had to return a recalled product?<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Class II, in the middle, is used when \u201cuse of, or exposure to, a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote,\u201d the website says.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of the H-E-B <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fda-notice-ice-cream-products-recalled-over-bacterial-contamination\/\" title=\"FDA Alert: Ice Cream Recalled Due to Bacterial Contamination\">ice cream recall<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/three-brands-named-growing-recall-fda-announces-number-sickened-consumers-doubled\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">FDA<\/a> has assigned a Class II designation because of\u00a0 the \u201c[p]otential presence of metal fragments\u201d in the product, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/safety\/recalls-market-withdrawals-safety-alerts\/h-e-b-issues-voluntary-recall-3-ounce-cups-creamy-creations-ice-cream-select-flavors\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announcement<\/a> said.<\/p>\n<p>However, no known injuries had been reported in relation to the metal fragments, it added.<\/p>\n<p>The ice cream products recalled were sold in all H-E-B stories in Texas, as well as Central Market, Mi Tienda and Joe V\u2019s Smart Shop stores throughout the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll product related to this recall has been removed from store shelves,\u201d the announcement read. \u201cCustomers who purchased the products should not consume the items and can return them to the store for a full refund.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The company also said that it was working to get replacement product back on the shelves as quickly as it could.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/hormel-foods-announces-recall-toss-anything-two-codes-immediately\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recalled products<\/a> display UPC codes of 4122062948 and 4122081930, Newsweek reported, but the codes appear only on the bag containing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/fda-recalls-soft-serve-on-the-go-ice-cream-cups-linked-to-listeria-outbreak\/\" title=\"FDA recalls 'Soft Serve on the Go' ice cream cups due to Listeria outbreak.\">ice cream cups<\/a>, and not on the cups themselves.<\/p>\n<p>The company also published its customer service number, 855-432-4438, for any readers in need of additional information.
