This breach compounds Live Nation&#8217;s woes, including an antitrust lawsuit and historical ticketing problems, impacting user \u2063confidence and corporate image.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<header> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/commentary\/\">  Commentary <\/a>  <\/p>\n<h2>If You&#8217;ve Bought Tickets with Ticketmaster Recently, Your Data Might Be for Sale on the Dark Web<\/h2>\n<p> <span> <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/bchai\/\">  <\/a> <\/p>\n<p> <span>   By <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/author\/bchai\/%20\"><span>Bryan Chai<\/span><\/a> <\/span> <span>   May 31, 2024 at 5:24pm <\/span> <\/span>  <\/header>\n<section>\n<p>According to a new SEC filing by Live Nation Entertainment, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/microsoft-finds-new-backdoor-security-breach-in-exchange-software\/\" title=\"Microsoft finds new backdoor security breach in exchange software\">security breach<\/a> has put untold troves of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/report-china-is-stealing-dna-of-u-s-citizens\/\" title=\"Report: China is Stealing DNA of U.S. Citizens\">personal data<\/a> at risk.<\/p>\n<p>Live Nation is the owner of the ubiquitous ticket-selling platform Ticketmaster, and that platform appears to \u201cprimarily\u201d be the issue, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/ix?doc=\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/1335258\/000133525824000081\/lyv-20240520.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">filing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn May 20, 2024, Live Nation Entertainment, Inc. (the \u201cCompany\u201d or \u201cwe\u201d) identified unauthorized activity within a third-party cloud database environment containing Company data (primarily from its Ticketmaster L.L.C. subsidiary) and launched an investigation with industry-leading forensic investigators to understand what happened,\u201d Live Nation\u2019s filing reads.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps most concerning of all to users, Live Nation admitted that it was approached about possibly buying some of this breached user data.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn May 27, 2024, a criminal threat actor offered what it alleged to be Company user data for sale via the dark web,\u201d the filing reads. \u201cWe are working to mitigate risk to our users and the Company, and have notified and are cooperating with law enforcement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs appropriate, we are also notifying regulatory authorities and users with respect to unauthorized access to personal information.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, Live Nation didn\u2019t seem particularly worried about the breach, at least in terms of its potential impact on their business.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs of the date of this filing, the incident has not had, and we do not believe it is reasonably likely to have, a material impact on our overall business operations or on our financial condition or results of operations,\u201d the filing noted. \u201cWe continue to evaluate the risks and our remediation efforts are ongoing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While the primary concern of the Live Nation security breach is obviously for the customer, the incident also caps off a rough time for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-next-hunter-kamala-harriss-stepdaughter-cashes-in-on-biden-presidency\/\" title=\"The Next Hunter? Kamala Harris\u2019s Stepdaughter Cashes in on Biden Presidency\">entertainment conglomerate<\/a> in general.<\/p>\n<p>This SEC filing comes just days after the company was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bidens-doj-29-states-sue-live-nation-nearly-two-years-taylor-swift-ticketmaster-debacle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rocked by a lawsuit<\/a> spearheaded by the Department of Justice.<\/p>\n<p>Twenty-nine states and the District of Columbia are joining the DOJ in this lawsuit, which effectively calls Live Nation owning Ticketmaster owning a monopoly.<\/p>\n<p>According to reporting from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-features\/live-nation-antitrust-suit-takeaways-doj-complaint-1235026841\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rolling Stone magazine<\/a>, consumer complaints allege that Live Nation effectively runs a scam where it charges exorbitant and superfluous fees, which then get dispersed to various entities within the venue.<\/p>\n<p>The issue, however, is that Live Nation also owns most of those various entities. It\u2019s akin to robbing Paul to pay Peter, except Peter and you have a side agreement to split the money.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit essentially pushes Live Nation toward the divestiture of Ticketmaster.<\/p>\n<p>And while not nearly as ominous as the federal government, Ticketmaster also incensed \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-taylor-swift-fans-lose-man-falls-asleep-concert-deserve-prison\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Swifties<\/a>\u201d (die-hard fans of pop superstar Taylor Swift) in 2022, when high demand for Swift tickets effectively crashed the whole site.<\/p>\n<p>Many have surmised that the 2022 Swift incident was what spurred the DOJ to kick things into overdrive against Live Nation.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of where it began, the lawsuit is a very real issue for Live Nation \u2014 as is this security breach.<\/p>\n<p>Infuriating users is one thing, as consumer trust can be rebuilt.<\/p>\n<p>Losing the trust of users?
