The former president was found guilty on all 34 charges brought in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-york-judge-sets-date-for-trumps-first-criminal-trial\/\" title=\"Trump's initial criminal trial date fixed by New York judge\">hush-money trial<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGreat damage was done today to the public\u2019s faith in the American legal system,\u201d Musk posted on X. \u201cIf a former President can be criminally convicted over such a trivial matter \u2013 motivated by politics, rather than justice \u2013 then anyone is at risk of a similar fate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Musk later responded to author J.K. Rowling on the site after she said that she struggled to \u201csee why it\u2019s a trivial matter if a billionaire falsifies their business records, though, whatever the context.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn a vacuum, that would be accurate and it would also not matter whe[ther] someone were a \u2018billionaire\u2019 or not (there is an implied pejorative in that word),\u201d he said. \u201cHowever, as I\u2019m sure you\u2019ve observed, judicial resources are limited, often leaving serious crimes, where victims were directly harmed, unprosecuted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYet there is no actual victim in this crime! It is obviously politically motivated, with the goal of undermining democracy by preventing half of America from voting for their preferred candidate,\u201d he continued. \u201cI have never provided financial support, nor have I voted, for Trump. Plenty of prosecutors have won plenty of convictions in cases that shouldn\u2019t have been brought in the first place. \u2018But they won\u2019 is no defense to a strained, convoluted reach unless the goal is to \u2018win,\u2019 now, by any means necessary and worry about the credibility of the case and the fallout later.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In his lengthy piece, Honig noted that the judge in the case broke the law by having donated to a pro-Biden and overtly anti-Trump political operation, the district attorney who brought the case campaigned on getting Trump, the case pushed the outer limits of the law and due process, and numerous aspects of the case were crafted in a special manner just to get Trump.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe charges against Trump are obscure, and nearly entirely unprecedented,\u201d he said. \u201cIn fact, no state prosecutor \u2014 in New York, or Wyoming, or anywhere \u2014 has ever <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/top-cnn-legal-expert-shreds-manhattan-trump-case-was-created-just-to-get-trump\/\" title=\"Leading CNN Legal Analyst Dismantles Manhattan Trump Case: Deemed a Targeted Attack on Trump\">charged federal election laws<\/a> as a direct or predicate state crime, against anyone, for anything.
