Biden seeks to highlight Trump&#8217;s conviction while steering clear of aggressive attacks to strategically position \u2064himself for the upcoming \u2064election.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Democrats and Republicans are respectively casting former President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"felony conviction\">Donald Trump<\/a> as a convicted felon and a political prisoner after his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3018093\/trump-guilty-in-manhattan-hush-money-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"felony conviction\">felony conviction<\/a> in New York City.<\/p>\n<p>The guilty verdict Thursday led to huge fundraising days for both parties, and though President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/joe-biden\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Joe Biden<\/a> briefly addressed the case Friday, campaign allies say they don\u2019t expect the president himself to \u201cdance on Trump\u2019s grave\u201d just yet.<\/p>\n<p>Multiple veteran Democratic operatives told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> that while the Biden campaign has and will continue to highlight Trump as a convicted felon, they believed Biden himself would seek to avoid fanning the flames among Republicans, at least in the immediate future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Biden was already locked in a tight race, and this doesn\u2019t make things any easier. On the one hand, Trump is a danger to our democracy, and the president\u2019s campaign wants every advantage possible ahead of the general election,\u201d one strategist explained. \u201cOn the other, the president doesn\u2019t want to appear like he or his administration had any hand orchestrating the Trump verdict. It\u2019s a very thin line to walk.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A second campaign operative noted that Biden\u2019s past few months of campaigning have been characterized by increased personal attacks against his Republican opponent. That person said they were truly not sure the lengths to which Biden planned to highlight Trump\u2019s conviction over the next few weeks but that they expected the president to go \u201call in\u201d on Trump during the first general election debate on June 27.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost normal voters aren\u2019t even tuned into the election at this point, but in front of a national audience, I think President Biden will have no choice but to hammer home that Trump is a legitimate criminal now,\u201d the operative assessed.<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s remarks Friday fell short of personally attacking Trump for being convicted, but the president heartily criticized the former president and his supporters for claiming that the trial was \u201crigged.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s reckless, it\u2019s dangerous, and it\u2019s irresponsible for anyone to say this was rigged just because they don\u2019t like the verdict,\u201d Biden said from the White House.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<div>\n<blockquote data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<div lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p>DOOCY TIME: \u201cDo you think this conviction helps Trump in the election?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden: \u201cI have no idea.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Doocy: \u201cAre you worried this could happen to you someday? It was a state case, not a federal case, and it was heard by a jury of 12 citizens \u2014 12 Americans, 12 people like you, like millions of Americans who served on juries,\u201d the president continued. \u201cThis jury is chosen the same way every jury in America has chosen. It was a process that Donald Trump\u2019s attorney was part of.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden did, however, smile coyly at reporters when asked about Trump\u2019s claims that Biden weaponized the Justice Department against him. He did not answer the question.<\/p>\n<p>The Trump campaign quickly turned that non response and smile into a sinister campaign ad painting Biden as the \u201cface of corruption.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p>Later in the day, following a ceremony celebrating the Kansas City Chiefs\u2019 most recent Super Bowl, Biden told reporters that he has \u201cno idea\u201d if Trump\u2019s conviction will help him in November.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t know I was that powerful,\u201d he joked when asked a follow-up question about Trump\u2019s claim that Biden is \u201cpulling the strings behind the scenes\u201d and \u201cdoing all of this to help\u201d himself.<\/p>\n<p>The Biden campaign did not answer questions about if Biden plans to work Trump\u2019s felony status into his rotation of Trump stump digs and noted that he addressed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/vulnerable-democrat-elaine-luria-continues-to-contradict-herself-as-the-november-midterm-election-gets-closer\/\" title=\"Vulnerable Democrat Elaine Luria Continues to Contradict Herself as the November Midterm Election Gets Closer\">issue multiple times<\/a> on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Republicans have nearly unanimously rallied behind Trump, claiming that Biden\u2019s calls to respect and protect the justice system ring hollow.<\/p>\n<p>Several supporters of the former president have specifically pointed to Biden\u2019s own actions on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">student loan debt<\/a> after the Supreme Court struck down his initial proposal to forgive $10,000 in loans for every student borrower.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBiden claims that \u2018the justice system should be respected,\u2019 but apparently he only means it regarding President Trump,\u201d Job Creators Network Foundation President Elaine Parker said in a statement. \u201cWhen the Supreme Court struck down his student loan giveaway scheme, Joe ignored the law and gave away billions in an effort to buy votes from college grads.
