Legal experts note that although \u200bit may \u200dnot\u200b directly affect the \u200bGeorgia \u200btrial, it could sway \u200dperceptions and \u2064diminish Trump&#8217;s perceived invincibility, potentially benefiting Willis in her legal endeavors.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/donald-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Donald Trump\u2019s<\/a> criminal conviction by a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/new-york\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>New York<\/a> jury could aid Fulton County District Attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/fani-willis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>Fani Willis\u2019<\/a>s election interference case against the former president.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen we think about the conviction of President Donald Trump, it doesn\u2019t have a direct effect on the president\u2019s trial in Georgia,\u201d legal expert John Acevedo said in a statement to the<em> Washington Examiner<\/em>. \u201cHowever, it will have a psychological impact on both Fani Willis and her team, as well as potential jurors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The professor at the Emory University School of Law explained the basis for his viewpoint, saying, \u201cBecause, for both groups, they do not have to be the ones to open the door of convicting the former president, because the door has already been opened. And in that sense, it has been done, will be done, and therefore removes the mystique and invulnerability of Mr. Trump himself and any former president.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Acevedo is not the only legal expert warning Trump\u2019s conviction could benefit Willis\u2019s election interference case against the former president.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf anything, [the conviction] provides a road map to prosecuting a former president, something that didn\u2019t exist prior to yesterday,\u201d Matthew Mangino, a former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/radical-cultural-change-coming-to-america\/\" title=\"Radical Cultural Change Coming to America?\">district attorney<\/a> in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/fani-willis-donald-trump-georgia-hush-money-1906832?utm_term=Autofeed&#038;utm_medium=Social&#038;utm_source=Twitter#Echobo%5B%E2%80%A6%5D7170433\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>statement<\/a> to <em>Newsweek<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>A Georgia grand jury indicted Trump last year on racketeering charges. (AP Photo\/Brynn Anderson)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Trump has pleaded not guilty to the charges, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/2943380\/first-amendment-protects-trump-from-fani-williss-election-interference-charges-attorney-argues\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>arguing<\/a> that they should be dropped because his actions were shielded by constitutional protections of freedom of speech and expression.<\/p>\n<p>The former president faces 10 charges in the Fulton County election interference case.<\/p>\n<p>Willis is working to add several charges back in after Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee dropped six, including three against Trump. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/bill-cosby-headed-to-court-again-to-face-sexual-abuse-charges-in-civil-trial\/\" title=\"Bill Cosby Headed To Court Again To Face Sexual Abuse Charges In Civil Trial\">district attorney appealed<\/a> the judge\u2019s decision after he said the counts did not have sufficient detail regarding the nature of the violations.<\/p>\n<p>The Trump legal team has tried <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/3016144\/fani-willis-appeal-dismissal-charges-trump-election-interference-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>to remove<\/a> the Georgia prosecutor from the case. It cites revelations that Willis improperly benefited from hiring special prosecutor Nathan Wade, with whom she had a romantic relationship, which the former president\u2019s lawyers argue disqualifies her from leading the prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>Willis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/2954899\/fani-willis-faces-more-trouble-ahead-in-georgia-election-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>faces<\/a> two other investigations, including one at the state level and another from federal officials.<\/p>\n<p>Willis is under investigation by Georgia\u2019s state Senate for impropriety.
