Some Democrats face criticism for their quiet stance on the issue, sparking political tensions within the party.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Mum\u2019s the word on former President Donald Trump\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3018093\/trump-guilty-in-manhattan-hush-money-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"guilty verdict\">guilty verdict<\/a> for most <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/senate-democrats\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"guilty verdict\">Senate Democrats<\/a> facing swing-state reelections next year, a departure from their progressive colleagues who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/presidential\/3023617\/trump-guilty-democrats-rejoice-verdict\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>welcomed the historic conviction<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The strategy on such a contentious issue underscores the potential vulnerabilities presenting more than a half-dozen Democrats in battleground Senate races, any one of which could determine control of the chamber.<\/p>\n<p>Neither the offices nor campaigns of Sens. Jacky Rosen (D-NV), Sherrod Brown (D-OH), Tammy Baldwin (D-WI), and Bob Casey (D-PA) responded to requests for comment Friday to the Manhattan jury convicting Trump on Thursday of 34 felony counts in his New York hush money trial.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for Sen. Jon Tester (D-MT) told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> in a statement, \u201cSen. Tester respects the judicial process and believes everyone should be treated fairly before the courts, and voters will have the opportunity to make their voices heard at the ballot box in November.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Democratic strategist Hank Sheinkopf, who\u2019s advised former President Bill Clinton, told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> that a quiet approach is a smart political tactic clearly designed to avoid turning off voters. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy put your neck in a noose if you don\u2019t have to?\u201d Sheinkopf said. \u201cIf you\u2019re in trouble in the first case, why would you do something that would alienate a significant portion of the population?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The campaign arm of Senate Republicans pummeled with criticism Tester and Brown, both red-state Democrats whom the GOP sees as their best path to a Senate majority. The National Republican Senatorial Committee urged them both to leave the Democratic Party over a \u201ccorrupt show trial.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwo-Faced Tester voted to impeach President Trump twice and encouraged physical violence against Trump,\u201d NRSC communications director Mike Berg said. \u201cNow, Two-Faced Tester is trying to fool voters into thinking he isn\u2019t the Trump hater he was so proud to be for the last five years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On Brown, NRSC spokesman Philip Letsou suggested he \u201ckiss his political career goodbye\u201d unless the Democrat leaves the party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStaying silent like a coward isn\u2019t an option,\u201d Letsou said.<\/p>\n<figure><figcaption>Sen. A spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Democrats running for Senate in open seats were more outspoken than the incumbents.<\/p>\n<p>In Michigan, leading Democratic candidate Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) called Trump\u2019s verdict \u201can unprecedented moment, and a sad one for our country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresidents should be leaders we look up to; now, one of them is a convicted felon, found guilty by a jury of his peers. That principle is foundational to our country and more important than any one president, candidate, or campaign.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In Arizona, leading Democratic candidate Rep.
