But Republicans did and continue to do nothing.<\/p>\n<p>Take, for example, the belated and worthless response from Senate Minority \u201cLeader\u201d Mitch McConnell.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese charges never should have been brought in the first place. I expect the conviction to be overturned on appeal,\u201d McConnell posted to X hours after the verdict was delivered. <\/p>\n<p>McConnell is right that the charges never should have been brought. So then why did Republican leaders sit on their hands for a year while Bragg devised his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-climate-lawfare-campaign-jeopardizes-americas-energy-future\/\" title=\"Democrats\u2019 Climate Lawfare Campaign Jeopardizes America\u2019s Energy Future\">lawfare campaign<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>But are we really surprised that the party that, as independent journalist <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/julie_kelly2\/status\/1796295506831835318\">Julie Kelly<\/a> put it, \u201cstood silent for 3 years as Biden\u2019s DOJ\/FBI investigated, raided, charged, prosecuted and incarcerated 1,400+ Trump supporters for Jan. 6,\u201d did <em>nothing<\/em> to combat the lawfare against Trump? And are <em>still <\/em>doing nothing to combat the three other lawfare cases?<\/p>\n<p><strong>[READNEXT:[READNEXT:<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/05\/28\/biden-pressers-confirm-get-trump-lawfare-is-a-campaign-stunt\/\">Biden Pressers Confirm \u2018Get Trump\u2019 Lawfare Is A Campaign Stunt<\/a>]<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When Bragg first indicted Trump, McConnell \u201crefused to condemn the overt weaponization of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-red-wave-of-conservative-women-elected-to-congress\/\" title=\"The Red Wave of Conservative Women Elected to Congress\">law enforcement<\/a>,\u201d as my colleague Tristan Justice <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/08\/02\/mcconnell-and-his-gop-senate-drones-are-silent-on-trump-indictment-again\/\">pointed out<\/a>. McConnell\u2019s muteness was so deafening that even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/06\/09\/politics\/republicans-congress-reactions-trump-indictment\/index.html\">CNN<\/a> couldn\u2019t help but acknowledge how \u201cGOP leaders\u201d were \u201csilent\u201d on the unprecedented indictment.<\/p>\n<p>When McConnell finally spoke about the lawfare, he called for <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/04\/19\/after-fbi-raids-republicans-last-president-mitch-mcconnell-wants-to-increase-doj-funding\/\">increasing<\/a> funds for federal law enforcement agencies \u2014 which act as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/blm-co-founder-buys-1-4-million-home-in-virtually-all-white-area-black-commentators-slam-her\/\" title=\"BLM Co-Founder Buys .4 Million Home In Virtually All-White Area.
