Kennedy Jr.<\/a> said the decision would only help his opponent\u2019s chances of winning in November. <\/p>\n<p>Kennedy spoke on Trump\u2019s conviction in Austin, Texas, at Consensus 2024, a crypto <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RobertKennedyJr\/status\/1796303975412850753\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title>event<\/a>, just hours after the news broke.<\/p>\n<p>Kennedy called the trial the \u201cweakest case\u201d brought against Trump. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cA large part of the American public believes that the judicial system and enforcement system has been weaponized politically,\u201d Kennedy said. \u201cThat\u2019s bad for our country, and I think that\u2019s a mistake for the Democratic Party. So, technically, if you were in prison convicted of murder or some other heinous crime, you could still hold the office of president of the United States. Is that a good rule? I don\u2019t know, but that\u2019s the rule,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The three requirements Kennedy speaks on are actually that a person is 35 years old, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-is-indicted-heres-what-happens-to-him-next-in-court\/\" title=\"Trump Is Indicted: Here\u2019s What Happens to Him Next in Court\">natural-born citizen<\/a>, and a resident of the county for the last 14 years.<\/p>\n<p>Still, Kennedy has said he\u2019s not a fan of Trump \u2014 there\u2019s a reason he\u2019s running against him. Despite his disagreement with the guilty verdict, Kennedy reiterated the candidates\u2019 differences in opinion about various policies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe shut down our country after promising that he was gonna run America like a business. He shut down all of our businesses, 3.3 million businesses, with no due process, no just compensation, no scientific citation. He embroiled our country in foreign wars,\u201d Kennedy said. \u201cHe divided \u2014 the division that we have in our country is now largely [thanks] to him and President Biden, and it\u2019s not a good thing for our country.
