Featuring Dave Chappelle&#8217;s &#8220;The Closer&#8221; and the success of comedians like Matt Rife and \u200bShane Gillis, Netflix&#8217;s commitment to provocative humor resonates with audiences\u200d craving unfiltered \u200bcomedic experiences, challenging the prevailing\u2062 woke culture.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Remember Comedy Central?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The channel dedicated to 24\/7 laughs gave us \u201cSouth Park,\u201d \u201cKey &#038; Peele,\u201d \u201cTosh.0,\u201d \u201cChappelle\u2019s Show,\u201d and more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Today, it\u2019s a graveyard of reruns and \u201cThe Daily Propaganda\u201d with Jon Stewart.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Comedy needs a helping hand in our woke world, and YouTube and TikTok can only do so much of the heavy lifting.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Enter Netflix.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The streaming giant has been delivering stand-up specials and original sitcoms for years. Nothing new there, at least on paper. Lately, however, Netflix brass have taken the task more seriously.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">And it\u2019s paying off, big time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The streamer is home to comedy\u2019s biggest stars (Sebastian Maniscalco), rising players (Nate Bargatze), and even woke wonders (Hannah Gadsby). Its \u201cNetflix is a Joke\u201d festival series, which just wrapped its second gala, is a who\u2019s who of comedy giants. The event churns out even more original content aimed at our funny bones.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Netflix stand-up specials took on a special significance near the end of 2021. Dave Chappelle\u2019s \u201cThe Closer\u201d ignited a firestorm on the Left. Progressives raged against him mocking the trans community, ignoring how the Ohio native honored a deceased trans comic at the special\u2019s end.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The streamer\u2019s comedy bona fides hung in the balance. Would Team Netflix cave, cancel the special and cut ties with someone considered the best living stand-up?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Remember, this was during the post-George Floyd mania, a time when offensive sitcoms got memory holed and comedians feared the wrong joke could end their careers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos initially stood by Chappelle. Then, he got on his Schwinn and furiously backpedaled <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/2021\/10\/why-netflixs-apology-is-a-bad-idea\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">via The Wall Street Journal<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. He said he \u201cscrewed up\u201d in his initial response to the blowback, adding that people were hurt by jokes.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cTo be clear \u2026 storytelling has an impact in the real world . . . sometimes quite negative.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Somehow, some way, Sarandos and co. stiffened their collective spines and rebuffed the Cancel Culture swarm. Turns out, aggressively unwoke comedians draw eyeballs on the platform. A lot of them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Comedian Matt Rife isn\u2019t as combustible as Chappelle, but he\u2019ll veer into challenging topics when necessary. \u201cMatt Rife: Natural Selection\u201d delivered the biggest viewing numbers of 2023\u2019s second half with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2024\/05\/matt-rife-netflix-ratings-1235928998\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">13M hours viewed.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">That\u2019s despite an alleged outcry over Rife\u2019s domestic violence joke that hit social media shortly after its debut.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_744083\" style=\"width: 874px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-744083\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Weiss Eubanks\/NBCUniversal via Getty Images<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Other huge performers included Ricky Gervais\u2019 \u201cArmageddon,\u201d which drew more than 8M hours between Christmas Day and December 31. Another <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-show-isnt-woke-meghan-mccain-explains-yellowstone-becoming-a-smash-success\/\" title=\"\u2018The Show Isn\u2019t Woke\u2019 Meghan McCain Explains \u2018Yellowstone\u2019 Becoming A Smash Success\">mega hit<\/a>? Chappelle\u2019s \u201cThe Dreamer,\u201d generating 2.1M hours in just one day.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_744079\" style=\"width: 421px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-744079\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ricky Gervais: Armageddon (2023). Neflix. IMDB.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Shane Gillis, the comic canceled by \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d for offensive jokes, joined the party. Twice. His \u201cBeautiful Dogs\u201d special scored with subscribers, and his just-released comedy series <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2024\/05\/shane-gillis-comedy-tires-viewership-netflix-premiere-1235942831\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cTires\u201d opened strong<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, standing tall against fan favorite \u201cBridgeton\u201d with less media adulation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Few performers capture the cultural tug of war between comedy and space spaces better than Gillis. Even \u201cSNL\u201d admitted the error of its ways and invited him to host the show earlier this year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Netflix welcomed him with open arms. Funny is funny.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_744097\" style=\"width: 421px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-744097\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tires (2024). Netflix. IMDB.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">And if Netflix needed more excuses to ditch the woke mob, Nikki Glaser gave it one. Her recent HBO special, \u201cSomeday You\u2019ll Die,\u201d <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2024\/05\/nikki-glaser-someday-youll-die-comedy-special-viewership-hbo-1235944537\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">smashed a streaming record<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">  for the venerable platform. Glaser\u2019s blistering set at the recent \u201cRoast of Tom Brady\u201d likely boosted those numbers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">She took zero prisoners with her bawdy gags. Neither did anyone else. Comedy Central used to be the home of rip-roaring roasts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Brady roast happened, where else, at Netflix.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Netflix\u2019s comedy embrace makes perfect sense. We\u2019re starved for unexpurgated humor, the kind you\u2019ll never see on \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d or \u201cThe Late Show.\u201d It\u2019s why podcaster Joe Rogan, a center-Left comic who loathes the \u201cwoke mind virus,\u201d holds such sway over the culture. It explains how the digital space propels formerly unknown talents like Tim Dillon and Andrew Schulz into the top-tier of touring comics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It also explains why Louis C.K., cast out of Hollywood for admitting to gross sexual acts in front of multiple women, can still sell out Madison Square Garden.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">He doesn\u2019t follow the rules, and he never has.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The streamer knows ignoring part of its potential audience is a terrible move in today\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/stimulus-update-direct-minnesota-payments-worth-up-to-1300-to-finish-sending-in-two-days\/\" title=\"Minnesota stimulus payments of up to ,300 will be sent out within two days.\">challenging economic climate<\/a>. Plus, Netflix no longer has the streaming space to itself like it did just a few short years ago. It\u2019s fending off ferocious challenges from Peacock, Disney+, Max, and more. Those platforms aren\u2019t as comfortable with \u201cproblematic\u2019 storytelling and yuks. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">At least not yet. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Netflix is. And it\u2019s doing the best financially of them all.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Why? Capitalism. Give \u2018em what they want.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The streamer still delivers woke content on demand. The channel featured a second Gadsby event, \u201cSomething Special,\u201d last year. How it performed is anyone\u2019s guess.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Its documentary lineup leans to the Left. You won\u2019t see rebellious documentaries like Nick Searcy\u2019s \u201cThe War on Truth,\u201d \u201cThe Fall of Minneapolis,\u201d or \u201cPolice State\u201d on the platform. Maybe ever.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It still acknowledges half the country leans in the other direction. Even better?
